The book and movie are pretty convincing and fun to think about.

I think it's a possibility. The Da Vinci Code isn't the first book to bring up the theory that Jesus had a wife...that has been floating around for a long time.

So do I think it's possible? Of course I do. Why wouldn't Jesus have been married? Jesus often spoke of his humanity...and what is more human than love?

Anyway, I believe it's also possible that it didn't happen either. We'll likely never know the answer.

I'm glad that the Da Vinci Code was a big success though because I think it opened a lot of peoples mind to the fact that the bible as it is today is not the whole text that was created and it was changed, interpreted, and rearranged by men who had certain beliefs and political agendas at the time.

Maybe it really was once the word of God...but the average bible in the average home certainly is not.

Here's the thing. A good argument is a "claim." That claim is made by using "grounds" (elements of proof) which are connected to the claim by a "warrant" (an agreed upon connection). The CLAIMS made in DaVinci Code are merely theoretical. But the GROUNDS being put forth--the Cathars, the fact that some people in Southern France have legends about the Magdalene, etc--were often surprisingly true. The reason a lot of people don't believe in the end claims--like that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married--is because they don't believe in the warrants, in the way the grounds supposedly connect to the claim. The best thing the DaVinci Code did, in my opinion (other than clearning up that "prostitute" misconception about Mary Magdalene) is raise all these topics for further exploration. Anything that gets the larger public thinking and questioning and researching is a good thing.

There is some truth about Mary Magdalene. This is the primary reason the Church is against it. The rest is basically made up.

It's possible- i saw a special on the history channel were theology professors one from harvard where discussing their take on it. The forbidden writings/scriptures are something to think about.

I think there is more truth to it then the Church wants people to think. Why else would the Catholic Church scream outrage at a simple movie...? Thought to ponder...

Not even its author believes that. It's a novel. It's meant as entertainment.
