"Well tea cake...I want to go" implies that there is a restriction or conflict. Otherwise there would be no reason to object, or say that she wanted to go; she would just go.

you have Janie who WANTS to go with Tea Cake but there is something she is struggling against, presumably internally.

Most probably, if it was an external conflict, she would state the reason why she couldn't go with Tea Cake. here it seems the reason is private, leading the reader to presume it is an internal conflict.

Hmmm...sounds like you are reading or watching the movie of "There Eyes Were Watching God, " by Zora Neal Hurston and the character Tea Cake and Janie are supposedly in love...you see Tea Cake helped Janie to finally feel like a true woman...he loved her so, but his love wasn't enough because Janie went her own way to find herself and if she were to stay with Tea Cake "real bad" as she wanted to...she would be falling in that same cycle of doing what the man wants and not want Janie needs; thus the internal conflict, love of another or love of self. Note: This is only a hint...read it or watch it for yourself and you will be able to answer that question yourself. Enjoy and be Safe...(smiles)
