3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.Adam and Eve
3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

This scripture shows the snake talking:
(Genesis 3:1-5) . . .Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.

In Revelation it gives the identitity of the serpent:
(Revelation 12:9) . . .So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.
(Revelation 20:1-3) . . .And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 And he hurled him into the abyss and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he might not mislead the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be let loose for a little while.

Genesis 3
3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? "The serpent ... said unto the woman"
A clever serpent talks to Eve about trees, death, and the knowledge of good and evil. He persuades her to eat the forbidden fruit. She takes the first bite and gets the full blame (3:12, 16).
The serpent
3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. Adam and Eve
(Albrecht Durer, 1507)
3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Temptation
(Hugo van der Goes, 1470)
3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. "And he did eat."
In 2:17 God said that if Adam eats from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, then the day that he does so, he will die. But Adam eats the forbidden fruit and yet lives for another 930 years (5:5).
When did Adam die?
3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

That's in the book of Genesis. You'll find it very quickly.

Interesting that you mention this. I was just told yesterday that one must believe every word in the bible. Talking snakes?

Just like the rest of these answers...Genesis.
The serpent spoke to Eve (who arguably was alledged not to know the warning not to eat of the Tree of Good and Evil) and told her that if she ate from the Tree she would be God-like.
Very enticing for sure. When Adam came to Eve, do you think Adam knew he was eating fruit from the Tree of Good and Evil?

More to the point: Gen 3:
Ge 3:1 Now the serpent e was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? f ”
Ge 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, g
Ge 3:3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” h
Ge 3:4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. i
Ge 3:5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, j knowing good and evil.”
Ge 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable k for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, l who was with her, and he ate it. m
Ge 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; n so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Read your bible much? It's in Genesis. "The serpent spoke to Eve."

Want more silly bible verses? There are plenty. Some of the people who wrote it down must have been nuts.
