You have nothing to show a potential employer or client. There are so many people out there who think they have talent (just watch American Idol), but even if you are one of those talented people, you have nothing for your resume. If you are willing to put in the time as a freelancer, why not direct your energy towards a degree in marketing and advertising. Then you will have education, some experience, and possible connections to start your career.

degrees still don't mean a lot in that field. track records do. you might even have to do some work for free to get a foot in the door. if what you do works, and makes sales, then people will be beating down your door.
I think it is better to go directly to a smaller customer, get them to sponsor some ads, and you do them. if you are as good as you say, and sales result, the word of mouth will get you noticed and plenty of business. Remember though, funny makes people notice the commercial, but doesn't do the selling. a good offer does. i don't know about you, but i am so tired of the bs ads that well really you don't even know what they are selling. I think something fresh and straightforward would stand out in the crowd. This is what we have, this is what it does, this is the price. call, come by or visit the website, whatever fits.

Nope you need a degree because those are positions that are well chased after. Go to school like me and the rest of the people who don't live in never-never land. If you are so funny and creative why not do stand up? No degree required.

Nowadays a business degree (4 year) is the only way to get your foot in the door. Unless you have a friend in the company or published art work you will be facing a battle.

Not necessarily. You need to know about what and how to market.
My guess is you are good at coming up with cleaver sayings. It takes more to actually have an effective ad.
Study marketing and selling first.

YES! YOU NEED A DEGREE LIKE YOU NEED:
1. A hole in the head.
2. The heartbreak of psoriasis.
