A theoretical condition practised by eastern mystics who believe that by meditation they can free their consciousness from their physical bodies and float around watching themselves and anyone else. Basically the Idea is that you get to that point just in between sleep and awareness and project your thoughts, this is why it takes a lot of meditation because you have to recognise your place when you reach it. - However, during the event the mana is connected to the body by a silver link which, if broken, means that they might lose themselves and their bodies would be left in a coma - like state which, over time, would wither and die. So be careful when you do it cos the professionals do it so's you don't have to!
There are loads of books on the subject and they ain't hard to find

Astral projection is a phenomenon whereby a person feels as though they are experiencing the world from outside their body. There is much debate as to whether the subject is actually "outside their body" or just very relaxed, and as to whether there is any spiritual aspect to astral projection.

I have heard anecdotes regarding people who claim to have projected themselves very long distances (i.e. to other countries that they have not physically visited) and could actually describe scenes that existed there. Unfortunately, such phenomena are very difficult to prove, and easy to disprove -- and it's quite possible for someone to forget that they saw that scene in a photo, or to simply lie about the experience.

Some people believe that astral projection is the "soul" leaving the body, in the same nature that it might do so in order to be leave a dead body (to be reincarnated, go to an afterlife such as heaven, hell or purgatory, or to continue to exist as a spirit (or "ghost") on earth.

Astral projection (which is now usually called Out of Body Experience) is when one's spirit or second body or whatever one wants to call it leaves the body. It can see just as the body sees, but it is much less limited in its movement.

That's a very basic definition.

It was an occult principle (based in esoteric buddhism) or the theosophical movement, that was re- popularized in the 70s and 80s, by the new age, the newer version was the idea of meditating on the imaginary or energy body and going places you have never been,,, often flying,,,,, the occult principle was more entrenched in dream work and learning to control dreams, but only higher evolved people are capable of this...

It's when you leave your soul unprotected, and have a good possibility of becoming spiritually possessed. Falling into bondage and your life will be @#$% . If you dabble with witch craft it's a very good chance you are going to get burned.
