The Bubonic Plague, as it was also called, had a long history of killing people by the droves, but it was only until the fourteenth century that it first became a worldwide pandemic.
From 1350 to 1400, it killed about half of the European population and in the other regions of the world it eliminated similar percentages of the populace.
Each one of those regions was populated by people with different religions and each and every one of those persons prayed and begged to their respective God to free them from the terrible malady. However, the divine assistance never came, just as it had not arrived in all the previous epidemics and in all the previous famines and in all the previous wars. Neither the God from East Asia, from Central Asia, from the Middle East or from Europe moved a finger. By then, the Christian God, the Muslim God, the Hindu God, and the Buddhist God had already been revealed to the people of this planet, but they proved as useless as the Gods that had preceded them.

The usual nonsense answers. Why pray when it doesn't work? Why believe without proof of existence? Why bother with a non-responsive being? A real answer, please.

he's there... because if he wasn't the bubonic plague could have reached farther than it did and no one would have survived... in the first place who started the bubonic plague?? the people. they were putting their garbage everywhere till the rats came and the plague appeared. God never left any of us alone... there will be trying times but if you survive it God must have had a hand on it.
i'm from Asia... when there was this volcanic eruption... in my region we were saved... the eruption was one of the biggest ever in that country... but we were saved even if lava was rolling down the mountains down to our little barangay we were saved... some died... some survived, we prayed because there was no water, no food, no bloody help from the government but we were saved. we said the rosary over and over, my baby brother was hungry and a woman was giving birth in the refuge we were in but we made it through.
soldiers came and they had food with them and over the following days help arrived... after the eruption everyone was in church thanking God that each of us had survived... amid the lost of livelihood we prayed for strenght to bouy us through.... we did not ask for an instant solution because God cannot help you with that you have to work for yourself... and we survived....our region is still the number 1 producer of rice for the country... the ashes from the volcano may have ruined the rice patties, crippled livelihood but we stood up...
when there is disaster only then can you see God's mercy only then will you truly pray

I beg to differ.God is always there when we need Him. He may not always be there when we 'want' Him to be there but is always there when we need Him. Sin has consequences. At times in our lives we sin and when God pronounces judgment, we say that God is not fair. The Word of God says that it rains on the just as well as the unjust. So true sometimes the innocent suffer right along with the guilty but it is not gone unnoticed by God. He loves us all and it is not His Will that any should perish but that all should live eternal life. Each and everyone of us can think of some injustices that have been ours through the years but God knows what we need before we ask and He is merciful. If His critics were to think about the sins that we commit, you will find that God is much more merciful towards us than we care to give Him credit for. With all the sins that each of us commit year after year, if He were not merciful, this whole world would be wiped off the face of this earth. May God Bless U.

this is one of the hardest questions ever. There are a lot of times people say "hey, where was God?" Yet, we as humans only have a small glimpse of the picture. Think a tapestry with lots of threads, and we are only one thread. We can't see how history worked to make God's big master plan. When I had a hard day once, my mom took me on top of a mountain and showed me how beautiful this scene was. Then she said "look, those trees over there in the shadows don't know that they form part of a beautiful picture. All they know is that they are in the shadows, and it is dark and cold where they are sitting. Without the shadows, we wouldn't have the whole picture." So it is kind of like that. I guess when we are way up in heaven, we can look down and see how it is all working.

You're missing out on some key facts here buddy! Okay - the fall of man - man takes the consequences for sin = death, suffering, disease, painful childbirth etc..... Don't blame God for man's decision to reject Him!
Nowhere in the bible does God promise a perfect existence outside of the new heavens and the new earth that are to come. Hope to see you there! Okay - so it's like God is there and He sees people through those rough times. Before you decide he wasn't there you should look into the testimonies of the people who have been through such tragedies who are believers and they will tell you that He was there with them all the way.

You're blaming God for something that isn't his fault. The issue Satan raised in Eden was God's right to rule. Since God is perfect in justice, what better way to show that we are incapable of ruling ourselves than to allow us the opportunity to prove it one way or the other. The results are already pretty obvious...we're not too good at it. But fortunately for us, he made provisions to rectify the situation from day one. So while we have to suffer through the consequences of Adam and Eve making a really bad choice, we can be comforted knowing that God will take care of it in the near future. (I say near because according to the signs Jesus provided his disciples as a way of knowing where we are in the stream of time as it pertains to the end of this system of things under Satan's rulership, we're VERY close). Part of God's plan to rectifying things is that he has promised a resurrection of the dead (both the righteous and the unrighteous according to Revelation). God will take action to cleanse the earth and rid it of those who aren't willing to live by his standards during Armageddon. Even if we die in this system, during this resurrection all those who have died prior to Armageddon will be brought back to life. Then we'll be given 1000 years of living under God's kingdom rule by Christ. During that time everyone who is resurrected will have the opportunity to learn God's standards and humans will be brought back to perfection. The Bible says that God's purposes don't change. It was his will that the earth be a peaceful paradise with perfect humans and it will be since, according to the Bible, God can't lie.

Your question right here is the perfect answer.
You are trying to prove that God does not exist.
However, you have at least tried to find out if God is really there or not.
This means that somehow, you realize that there is a small possiblility that God exists no matter what.
Read confessions of a sinner by St. Augustine.

I believe there is a God, or Gods, however, I have no idea whether praying and asking for help does any good. That is a mystery that is beyond human comprehension. If my back is to the wall, I will ask God for help because it is the ultimate cry for help.

nice point big guy!
but do you ever believe that there is such a thing as darkness? I dont think so,coz its just the state when there is no light.
or do you believe there is such thing as wrong? i dont think so coz its only the state when there it is not right...
now, God is always there, you know why He cant be found when you need Him? well you only dont wanna seek and ask Him, all you're doin is blame Him now, how can you be helped in that?
We only say God is non-existent because we dont allow him to exist...
What a troublesome question you got here.....

I've been "told" twice to STOP THE CAR! That was GOD. I avoided running over a boy whose bicycle crashed. Also, I avoided being ran into by a deer. He nicked my headlight covers a tiny bit and I did nothing to fix them! It wasn't big damage. Now WHO has never been there when HE was needed?
Not the God I worship. He's there for me for sure. You sound like YOU are not there to walk WITH GOD!!!! Reconsider what YOU are doing!

I have learned that God allows things to occur because he can. I have also learned that God is not like a geeny in a bottle too. He will move in his own time. Do you have any idea about how those people were thinking in their hearts and actually living their private lives? Are you mad at God? Why?
