Some times everything is ok, but other times I feel like my partner does not give me enough room to breath. What are good ways to overcome this or deal with it in an adult manner (currently I lash out which causes big arguments)?

We do not live together and often we are not around each other because of my work schedule. When we are together for more than 5 hours I get really edgy.

Try to encourage your partner in something they are good at, something that is their own, someting they can do without you. It is best if it is something they hador did before you came along. If they do not have this, a hobby or a talent that will make productive use of their time, then you may have a problem. People who have nothing to look forward to or feel good about tend to cling to those who do.

maybe you should sit down with your partner and let them know how you feel and maybe you can just say i need some down time and head out the door for an hour or 2.. or half the day .. i'm like you.. i just have to have me time.. and let them know that no one can be around anyone for 24/7

You might want to try setting an "alone time" date for yourself every so often. Just explain that you need to have some time just for you. It will only help things in the long run.

I only feel that way if I'm not really into my partner. When I really like him, he can be all clingy and I don't mind.

All romance makes me feel stifled. It pulls me away from the things I really want.
