I came from Taiwan, but grew up in America. Here is my impression:
Most people I know in America don't even see the word 'Taiwan' except when they see toys and clothes that say "Made in Taiwan." Nowadays we see "Made in China" much more often. Thank goodness we seldom see pirated software from Taiwan now. China seems to have taken the lead on that one, too.
Most people don't even know where is Taiwan. Then again, this is the country where 69% of the people also don't know where is Iraq, and we're fighting a war there.
Nowadays, if people ask me where I am from, I just say "Canada." It's true! I was born there. Because if I say "Taiwan," I end up having to explain where is Taiwan, why it's not "China," (well, it is, but it isn't), etc.

People have an idea that it is a very industrious place, because so many products in the US have "Made in Taiwan" on them. And they also think it's similar to China, at least a little bit. However, only some Americans know basic differences between China and Taiwan. Some Americans only know it's an Asian country and nothing else!

I've heard that Taiwan has a huge Chinatown.
Taiwan is a developed country. Crowded. Great food. All the consumer goods that people want.
(What do American's think of Taiwan? Do you know anything about my country's culture, food or environment? I am Taiwanese and am curious about what you know about my country.)

I think many Americans will see you as an example of how most Taiwanese cannot converse or write well in English. Get ready Longman (nice name for a dictionary), here are your corrections:
1. How do AMERICANS SEE Taiwan?
2. I am Taiwanese
3. See #1.
4. How DO THEY SEE my country's culture, foods, or environment?
5. In addition, if my sentence is wrong, can you CORRECT it for me? I am not able to CONVERSE well IN English.

Maybe write it this way, "What do Americans think about Taiwan?"
Don't know much about Taiwan myself, but I hear it's one of the most prosperous places in Asia.
