And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Why do so many non-christians get divorced and then re-marry? This is not a problem that only christians are facing...it is a social problem that many religions and cultures face. Let's not be judgemental.

We’re human. We make mistakes. I don’t think you’re going to find anybody, Christian or not, who haven’t sinned.

It is a tragedy that so many children must live the consequences and so many women must face overwhelming fear after being abandoned to care for the children alone and without support.

All in society, believers and nonbelievers need to value marriage a lot more, for the emotional health of the children if for no other reason.

But at the same time we shouldn’t be judgmental because some are facing terrible abuse and they need to get out of some really bad situations.

You are quoting Jesus correctly.

I have no answers for you, other than the liberalization by man of the Bible and the Faith.

As for those who talk of abuse, why did they marry a disciple of the Devil and why didn't their Church defend them against this Satanic person. At least 20 churchgoers should have come to their homes and STOPPED the process and MINISTERED until the EVIL devil was exorcised from the man and he was reborn.

It was failure of religion to intercede.

We ALL, theists and atheists, can agree that any man or woman that is physically abusive to a spouse or child is NOT COOL.

So why didn't the Minister or Pastor of their church MOVE IN TO THEIR HOME and STAND GUARD 24/7 and not allow anything to happen.

Failure of the Church body to protect the parts.

Being a Christian does not entail that one does not sin.We are all still human and therefore, we do fall short. No sin is bigger or smaller than any other. I am a Christian and I am divorced. I got divorced over 12 years ago(when I was not actively living my part as a Christian). My ex was physically and emotionally abusive. Even to the point of trying to kill me. I am glad I left for my children's sake. I am remarried. I realize that the Word of God does not make mention of abuse as a grounds for divorce but it does say that a man is suppose to love his wife as Christ loved the Church. Well we all know what Christ did for the Church. Yep, He died for it. He did not try to kill it.I might not have sinned in leaving but I did in remarrying. I have since asked for forgiveness and I have been forgiven. The Word of God says that it is also better to marry than to burn. May God Bless U.

In any case maybe, God put first in marriage is most important, and of course-LOVE should be there, divorce is nonsense and non-exsistent to a true Christian- especially that you vowed to God to be together until death do you part, now why shouldnt we follow it. Reason is most are only Christians by name and no longer of heart thats why even though they know the Bible verses, they do not apply it with their lives...

Maybe one should ask why they married in the first place. I guess because people do not take God seriously like they used to. It is a sad thing for the children.

Because Christians are human and have a sin nature. Christians strive to be Christ-like in their behavior, but fall short, which is where God's grace and forgiveness come in to make us whole.

Grace and forgiveness are not a license to sin, but a redemption from sin.

They do so with their free will and they know the consequences of disobedience. They want to be saved but they want to make their own rules. Sorry but their rules are unacceptable to God. They cannot use football rules to basketball or baseball.
