Clear your mind for any abnormality. 5 years is a big deal. I hope u know a great deal of him and might be knowing how old he is and what he does. As someone suggested to be careful, I do feel you should take precautions and be prepared for. But still, remaining involved for 5 years means a lot and it sounds omnious.
Excitement is always there when u tend to meet a guy whom you have not seen but is in touch. Let it remain and I wish the excitement spills over and you enjoy the meeting. All the best.

Wow I have been in your position before except I was younger when I met the special guy I didn't know if it was going to be the same. I say if you be yourself just as you do online then it should go well. Don't stress yourself. Is he in love with you would be a question of mine? What has he said about how he feels meeting you for the first time? And, have y'all had video chats? Just take a deep breath and hope for the best. I wish you the best!!! I know the first time is the big impression but just keep your cool b /c I'm sure he may be wondering just as you are. You can sense a chemistry on the first time having met. I know.

It is natural to be nervous. After all you do not know the guy really well. Th e problem with the online friendship is that the person can practically hide himself/herself or even act in proxy. You would come to know about his age, appearence, traits etc. only when you meet him.

So, follow your instincts & intuition; be more nervous than excited; meet at a relatively safe place; judge the person in the first meeting and then decide your further course of action.

Good Luck.

i had meetings such as yours -- some turned OK, some not so OK, final outcome it was not a great experience. back to you -- it could be the same or different. hard to tell from a distance. here are a couple of rules : a, meet only in public place where there are lots of people -- do not move from a public place to a private place even if you have established confidence. b. advise/tell a good friend of yours the timing of the meeting and the place and tell her to call you on your cellular within 15 to 30 min. of your encounter. if the meeting is not to your expectation --he is creepy, he is not for you, he is not what you expected -- invent a cause while talking to your girl friend and excuse yourself that some important event happened and you have to leave --that is a good diplomatic
way of handling the situation. make sure you have a ride back home or to your girl friend's home. hope it helps. you have to cover most possibilities like a good "spy" -- there are unknown circumstances in this world. good luck.

Wow... that's a long time to be talking with someone online. hehe... Well it's normal for you to feel nervous... meeting someone from the internet, you never know exactly what to expect. Just make sure that you end up meeting in a crowded place just so you're safer. I'm sure once you're there in person together things won't be so awkward, and they'll soothe out. Goodluck!

Of course! Remember to meet him in a safe place, hopefully with friends, because you don't really know who this guy is. You can never be too careful.

My cousin talked to a guy on the internet and phone every night and he turned out to be 53 years old! (she was 17!!) You can just never tell.

As long as you have a safe way to meet him, relax. He's probably just as nervous as you are. Don't be too judgmental about his appearance...give his personality a chance first.
