If you do it every night, possibly yes. Since around 7 your starting to relax and your not doing any physical activity, your less likely to burn off the calories that you consume around times in the later evening. It also depends on your metabolism, everyone's bodies are different. One person can eat a Jumbo jack with cheese, a large french fry, and a oreo cookie milkshake every night at 9 p.m. and not gain an ounce. Of course when their 40 years old they will be in the hospital with tubes in their arteries to unclugg them for all the cholesterol build up. Then this person can have a friend who will eat the same thing and blow up 20 pounds in a month or so.
But typically, yes its not good to eat late at night, but a few times a week will not hurt as long as its not a lot of not high in fat, sugar, carbs or calories.

The theory behind that is that since your heartbeat and metabolism slow down when you are asleep, your body wont digest the food you eat late night properly.

Now obviously if you work a late night job or something and dont go to sleep til 3am each night then if you stop eating at 7pm you will get very hungry.

It basically depends on each individual's lifestyle.

The best thing to do is stop eating a couple hours before you plan on going to sleep and you should be fine. But if you do get hungry just have a smaall snack, dont let your body be hungry.

What you eat and how much you eat is far more important than when you eat. The only real problem with eating before bed time is that it can cause indegestion from lying down. As long as you watch your caloric intake, eat whatever time you want.

As an added note: You actually do burn calories while you sleep. A person burns on average 60-100 calories during an 8 hour period of sleep.

It is a good cut off time since anything you eat after 7 is considered calories that are going to bed with you and therefore will turn to fat- if you think about it a bit, it makes sense. You are not active after 7 and therefore where will the calories go?

Preposterous. What a hideous thing to say to ones own child. Eat well, eat right, don't eat too much. When you get older, go to Europe and look at the portions of food served in restaurants. It is MUCH smaller than in America. Eat smaller portions if you are concerned about weight, but EAT. I NEVER eat to the point that I feel stuffed. I eat to the point I feel satisfied and no more. No extremes when it comes to food.

At that time of night your body is slowing down and your metabolism is also. If you are going to eat in the evening it is better to stick with something light like a piece of fruit or some popcorn. Just don't overdo it.

lol

It was thought to be that if you eat past a certain time at night your body wouldnt burn of calories as much because you arent active like you are throughout the day, causing them to build up and make you gain weight. But this myth has been disproved.

The difference in how much of a difference it MIGHT make between eating 2 hours before bed and 4 hours before bed is laughable.

u become less active after 7, then u lie down and sleep... not burning what u ate off. it's more like don't eat 3 hours before u go to bed.
