It is called "religion lite" and it is a way to get yuppies into your church. Yuppies bring money.

I totally agree with you. I was just thinking today how the pop preachers like joyce meyers, osteen, etc, aren't even preaching the gospel, just how to do better in life, be more motivated, and MOST of all how to get some more money and prosperity.

Jesus' parables and examples were firmly set in the contemporary world of His listeners - in fact, needing 'translation' to fit into our cultural settings.
There is no difference in using 'contemporary' images and speech forms.
But, He never asked for mega-dollar donations - that's what gets me!
