My g/f is THE WORST gift-giver in the entire world. Just once I want her to surprise me with something from the heart and soul, but I know that is never going to happen. She's a sweet girl, and cares about me dearly, but when it comes to gifting, she's not so good at it.
After being disappointed last Christmas, I told her to please get me nothing. Well, she--like most others--sees Christmas as an obligation and said "well, if you got me something, then I have to get you something." I'm trying to desperately simplify my life, and thre is nothing worse than having things around my house that I'll never use. She gave me the gift receipt, but I know she'll be hurt if I return it. I guess I should keep it, but it is really frustrating to have something at your house that you'll absolutely never use. What should I do?

I've been in your situation, and sometimes you have to beat around the bush. Act like the gift is defective in some way and you have to return it. She may get pissed if you just flat out take it back

Just be honest and tell her that you are not happy with the gift. Then return it.

Every time she gets you a worthless gift, punch her in the face. Much like pavlov's dogs, negative reinforcement will ensure she ends this behavior.

Just keep it. If you like the girl enough.You could always be honest with her.
