Everytime someone I know is sick (incuding me), they ask for 7up or Sprite. I crave it to sometimes when I have a bad cold or the flu..

My mom always said Sprite for an upset stomach and Coke for a cough. Maybe your mom was like mine and now whenever you are sick you have a psychological craving for 7up or Sprite. I usually crave Coke more than the lemon lime sodas.

Generally when you are sick, you crave comforting things. If a parent gave you 7-Up or Sprite as a kid when you got sick, these things can comfort you. Also, when you are sick your body knows it needs fluids and sugars, and that might also be why you feel the need to drink these things.

In the bible Paul tells Timothy to have small amounts of wine for his chronic stomach issues. I've also heard apple juice for sick-stomach. Somehow the sugar must help.

Because they are dehydrated and neither of those have caffeine so they hydrate you. Not to mention that the carbonation helps them feel as if they have something on their stomach if they have not been able to eat.
