I own several breeds just because we love animals. We have rotties, a boxer, and two Boston terriers. I have had pugs and they were great... German Shepard's, great guard dog but bad news for the neighbors.....min pin's, not to much of a lap dog...
The dog I would have to choose is the Boston. If you look on puppyfind.com or AKC.org and read about their traits you will understand where I am coming from. Boston's are considered the most human like dogs. They would rather be with their owner than other dogs. They want to be touching you when they are sleeping and have to be under the covers. Yet they let me know the diff between the mail man and a stranger pulling up in the yard. My oldest one is 6 and he still acts like as playful now as he did when he was 6 mos. I honestly can say they are the smartest dogs I have ever been around. And with father breeding 15 diff breeds I have been around alot....

A Siberian Husky / German Shepard cross
I had one already and it was a large male - the alpha male of a large litter - and it was an amazing dog. I've had many dogs over the years and seen many dogs but this dog was both incredibly intelligent and incredibly athletic, not to mention very handsome.
Not only did it have the mental and physical skills of the shepard but the siberian is even more agile and tireless. Purebread shepards tend to have hind quarter problems because of STUPID showing practices (grrrrr) so mixed breed shepards are actually healthier.
This mix is super fast, super strong, super agile and absolutely tireless. I lived in Quebec for three years and during that time we went tether-skiing together twice a day every day for the six-month long x-country ski season and it was absolutely fantastic.
The only down side was that he had a wild streak, an insatiable hunting instinct (he would chase any critter that moved whether or not I was tied to him) and he had to be exercised twice a day or he would go crazy and drive everybody else crazy.
Fantastic breed - I'd get another one.

I would get a Bulloxer, American Bull dog Boxer mixed. Best dogs in the world. There smart and train really easy and there very loving and good with kids and people. Mine has big beautiful blue eyes. They are good size dogs. If you like smaller, I would get a toy poodle just because they are so sweet and adorable.

Any kind of dog rescued from a shelter. That's where we got our dog from and he's a bassett hound mix...although the never told us what he was mixed with, but we think he's also part pit. Best dog I've ever had and the love of my life...besides my husband, of course. I think it's horrible that they put down animals at shelters if no one claims them. Why pay hundreds for an AKC registered dog when you can find the same love from a dog who just wants a home?

I currently have an aged English Bulldog. She is sweet and spends most of the day on her couch sleeping. If I were to get another dog, I would probably get a Hungarian Puli. They are beautiful dogs (long dreadlocks), very bright, like cats (i have three of them) and are good with children.

I love these types of questions!! PIT BULL. Hands down!! It has absolutely nothing to do with putting them in the pit, or taking them hunting!! It has to do with my children, and my security!
Think about it..........because of all the bad publicity the pit bull has, do you really think that someone is going to come into someone's house, that owns one?! Hell no!!
And they make a great family dog! Before you say I'm crazy, or stupid, or whatever.......ask yourself this : How many golden retrievers will attack you if you mistreat them? Plenty! Look at how the pit bulls are treated by the owners who put them in a pit! Starved, beaten, neglected, covered in their own feces often, and how many times has one of them turned on it's owner?? Hardly any!!
The pit bull is one of the most intellegent, patient and loyal dogs out there! They are one of few that will, literally, die trying to protect you!
They're SOOOO misunderstood!! they're the most loveable dogs I've ever owned! And I've owned a poodle, terriers, a rott/shepard mix, and not one of them have even come close to the loyalty this dog has!!!
The reason they're chosen as fighters is because of their jaw muscles. They start at the top of their head, isntead of the jaw, like other breeds. I have to say this : Yes, they are aggressive, towards other animals. But not humans, family or not, unless they sense ill intentions! And usually not aggressive towards the opposite sex dog! It's becasue of the jerkoff owners that make people so afraid of this giant, squishy, over grown puppy!!

A mix Lab that maxes at 25 pounds. Know the dogs are great for families but they are so big and robust and their tail knocks everything off the tables. Maybe a Corgi-Lab?

I would get another pug. I already have a fawn one and I think they are the cutest most annoying dogs in the world. I often tell mine the only thing he's got going for himself is that he's cute. But I would love to have him a little black puggie girlfriend.
