I would only take 1 pill you know Valium is for pain not a sleeping aid. IF you have trouble sleeping you should see a doctor for maybe something that's safer for you i take ABIEN CR and it really helps me.

I take 70 mg of valium, 50 mg of doxepin, .1 mg of clonidine, 5 mg melatonin and top it all off with 80 mg of motrin pm. Not kidding and I still have trouble sometimes. I'm amazed I wake up the next day , but I do, at noon. I must have built up quite a tolerance, especially to the valium.

That seems like too much. Perhaps your friend has built up a tolerance.
ONE 10 mg pill should be plenty. But don't get in the habit of using them to fall asleep. Addiction is a real possibility. One, once in a while, is generally safe for most people.

Yes! Don't do it! You will screw up your exam, your brain wo'nt fire on all cylinders if you are drowsy. I would advise you to do some relaxation about forty minutes before your exam - simply sit down, close your eyes and breathe deeply, feel your body relax and tell yourself you will get through this calmly, and you will answer all questions correctly and to the best of your ability. Then, if you still feel apprehensive, take ONE QUARTER of a tablet. It may not do too much at that dose, but the fact is on a psychological level you know you've taken something, and that may be enough to calm you. I think once you are in the exam and getting into the paper, you will be too busy concentrating on the task in had to worry about the feelings of anxiety. They will probably disappear as you work through the paper.

If you are having trouble sleeping you need to see your Doctor about this. You should not use someone elses prescription. Only your Doctor will know what to start you out with. Not a friend who takes them. He only knows what works for him. Some people bodies handle more than others and some less than others. You need to see a Doctor not a friend!!!!

First of all, you should never take pills prescribed to someone else. You should see your own doc and get your own dose.
However, my mother in law take Lorazapam (generic vallium), she take 1 5mg pill at night to sleep. She also has insomnia.
Still my gut says you should see a doc. Have you had your thyroid tested? An over active thyroid can cause terrible insomnia and anxiety.
