This treaty was signed into law by our second President John Adams.

"ARTICLE 11.
As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

As it clearly reads in our english language, this is not a Christian Nation and was not founded as such.

GTW - [;ease = your logic. A statement from 2nd president read back to founding of the nation is anachronistic.
a) It was a treating with an Islamic nation - what would you expect?
b) It includes this phrase subscribed to by Senate The agreements and terms above concluded by the two contracting parties shall be punctually observed with the will of the Most High.
c) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli - whole article GTW, not just your slice.
d) I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in providence, for the illumination of the ignorant and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth.
Notes for A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law (1765)
e) Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.

Now if we could just get your to change from GTW to GTO!

Technically a treaty, not a law.

But the CONTEXT is that this is a ... document .. voted on by the entire Senate. Without protest or comment.

Maybe they never read it.

BTW, I believe that's actually the Treaty of Tripoli. And it was negotiated by Washington and Jefferson, if I recall correctly.

To bluebootz, some Christians are the worst people that they have ever known, myself included. The difference between Christians and others is that the God they worship is God Almighty, and their understanding of morality is based on his holiness, and the peace and harmony they have is based on knowing that they are forgiven for their sins.
