God the Almighty wants Absolutely Nothing from u except to have u hold on faithfully to His teachings and guidance. The instance u get down on your knees to pray, or however it is u do to pray, that simple action is a testament of ur faith and belief in His existence and powers. And for as long as u have faith in God, He shall be by ur side.

Listen....

When most everyone prays they say it quickly and not really heartfelt. plus, when done they just gone on as if nothing was done. (I see it on TV all the time).

The best thing to do is take your time and just talk. it doesn't matter what you say, just talk. I once heard of a prayer that involved a joke that the person heard earlier that day.

Once your done, wait and listen. not necessarily with your ears but how you may feel. is their anything that's drawing you mind one way or the other. Or is there a feeling you can't deny.

Lastly don't be discouraged if you feel you didn't get an answer, many times God just likes us to figure it out on our own. Mostly because we already know what is right. Good luck.

the best advice that was eveer given to me about praying was at a youth conference that my church hosted.
the speaker said to say a quick, heartfelt prayer, in a quiet, darkened room, and just breathe.
breathe and listen and clear your mind of everything except god.
(it sounds like meditation.)
sometimes god may sound like your own voice, or a voice of someone you know.

this is all adive that ive found helpful on the subject.

He wants you to pray from your heart. He doesn't want memorised prayers that are mindlessly repeated over and over. When I was in the Catholic Church the prayers were just mindlessly mumbled with no real feeling in the thing. Now that I belong to a Baptist church....when people pray what every comes into their heart to pray, I see people weeping when they pray. Do you ever see people weeping while they are reciting the Our Father or the Apostle's Creed?

He wants you to come to Him with anything that is on your heart. It is a time you can be perfectly honest with Him, since He knows what you think anyway, even before you do. Think of God as the most loving, caring parent or friend, who will never, ever ever use anything you say against you, ever. He is not there to judge, to scold, to lecture. He is there to hear, to heal, to care, to help. Tell Him everything and ask Him to help you, He promises whoever comes to Him....He will in no wise cast out.

The answer comes from several sources.

1. Relationship to him.
2. The bible
3. The church. (I mean people not organizations)

You can not have one with out the other. There are no islands in Christianity.

He wants you to be sincere.
He wants you to thank Him for the many blessings that He pours out upon you.
He wants to know that you love Him. You can tell Him.
He wants you to live a life that brings honor to His Holy Name.
He wants you to pray in Jesus' name.
If you want to do His Will, ask Him to let you do His Will.
Don't be surprised if a Jehovah's Witness shows up at your door in answer to your prayers.

Listen and let him speak. God's voice is not loud and booming but soft and gentle so you have to listen.
