I've heard people say that the birth of a child is a miracle. For some it is the conception of a child.
Hmm, I just happen to be reading a book that asks the same question. Here is a quote:
"An event in the external world brought about by the immediate agency of the simple volition of God, operating without the use of means capable of being discerned by the senses. It is an occurrence at and above nature and above man. It shows the intervention of a power that is not limited by the laws either of matter or of mind, a power interrupting the fixed laws which govern their movements, a supernatural power...god ordinarily effects his purpose through the agency of second causes; but he has the power also of effecting his purposes immediately and without the intervention of second causes, i.e. of invading the fixed order, and thus of working miracles."

It is an event in the natural world, but out of its established order, possible only by the intervention of divine power. According to many religions, a miracle is an intervention by God in the universe. One must keep in mind that in Judaism, Christianity, Islam and in other faiths people have substantially different definitions of the word miracle. Even within a specific religion there is often more than one usage of the term.

Something that defies the laws of all known scientific disciplines but happens because the Almighty God wish it to happen for a purpose. Allah gives all attributes and properties to all the materials of the universe such as gravity, magnet pull, inter-celestial bodies pull, Archimedes Principal and all the laws of Physics through which Allah keeps the universe in order. If Allah can do that, then Allah can suspend such laws for things to happen that looks abnormal. That is called a miracle.
