only homosapiens (humans) have souls. sorry, but when your animal dies, it doesn't go to heaven. but you could always look on the brite side too, without a soul, it can't go to hell either. lol

Okay I clicked the link and read the third paragraph as you asked but the drop in humans (bigger body then an animal) can simply be explained how the body also when it dies releases air (air that is in lungs) explained by the sound that is made after we die (sometimes referred to as the death gurgle) Anyways that alone could be why the human body weighs less.
If you asked the question and wanted me to honestly base it on that article alone, I would have to say I still don't know. I guess sooner or later we will all find out..

Animals do not have souls. In some areas of the Bible it mentions souls referring to life...such as there was such a number of souls on the ark...referring to life...
But...there's a difference between a living soul and a soul...God breathed into the nostrils of Adam...giving him a living soul...he did not do this for animals...
"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7)
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." (1 Peter 3:18-20)
Only eight souls were saved by water...there were alot of animals on board that Ark...no mention of their souls because they do not have souls!
That being said...I wish they did have souls...I have animals that I love as family members and it bothers me knowing that when they die that's it...they no longer exist! But on the bright side they will not be judged and will not have to face going to hell!
I guess everyone has their own ideas and beliefs...that's where God gives us a brain and freewill to decide on our own!

Humans and animals ARE living souls.
Check it out. Numbers 31:28, Genesis 2:7, Revelation 16:3.
The soul is in the blood, that's why the blood is sacred to God and why we should abstain from blood.

Eccl 3:21 "Who knows the spirit of the son of men which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal which goes down to the earth?" We have no scripture that tells us animals do not have souls. And in the bible prophecy of the "New Jerusalem" "The lion shall lay down with the lamb, The baby shall play in the adders nest and not be bitten, The bear shall eat grass. So---draw your own conclusion. I trust the word of God, not someones interpretation, that says "He meant this or He meant that" I take the Parables for the instances they suggest and I take the lessons written for what they say and I believe the prophecies.

Yes animals have souls, they have feelings and show love and loyalty. Animals live and breathe and have souls,, heaven is suppose to be a paradise and what would paradise be without your pet, or birds, bees and other animals? God made animals as well as humans, they have purpose to be here and they also have souls!

I never believed animals have souls. That is an interesting study. I would want someone to replicate it before I fully believed it though. Studies, especially like that, can and are often faked/tweaked a bit. That one sounds like a tweaker.

NO.
Even humans don't have souls. Jeez, read your King James Bible. Genesis 2:7 ". . . and man became a living soul." Then later the KJV bible says, "the soul that is sinning, it itself shall die."
So, NO. YOU are a soul.

Animals are sentient (feeling) beings with personalities, intelligence, and emotions to various degrees. However they do not have eternal souls.
