I've failed my driver's test three times now and feel pathetic. The first time everything was amazing until the downhill park and i forgot to put the car in reverse first to get out of it. The second time the downhill park was amazing but I ended up not completely in my lane when I reversed around the corner. The third time I started backing out of the parking lot wrong and it was an automatic failure. If they could take the best of each time then I could actually have a license...but of course not. I always end up getting nervous and doing something completely stupid and it just completely ruins my entire day. I need some ways to keep calm beforehand and I've tried the deep breath thing but its not working because I get so freaked out about failing that I always end up with these idiotic mistakes. I wish there was some alternative to passing the road test... without taking the road test :(

have a few drinks...unless you are underage. That would be illegal.

you don't wish that, that would mean an insane number of really bad drivers on the road, instead of just the huge number we already have. but anyway, to stay calm you just need to remember that the test is just a formality, something you can try until you get it. There is no penalty for failing other than not getting your license. the breathing excersizes you tried are wrong, don't take deep breaths, take slow breaths (in through the nose, out through the mouth). get a massage before you go, focus on the test with your mind, know that you can succeed, don't allow anxiety to conquer your mind. (imagine anxiety as something you can easily block out and don't let it back into your brain until your done). when you pass the test the anxiety will turn into happiness .

Hey snap. I failed my third one yesterday. My dreadful mistake involved pulling out of a junction in front of car, tester had to shout stop!! Anyhow i have heard beta blockers can help. alternatively if you think you have failed this also helps to relax you. Simply close your eyes just before you set off. imagine you have just done a serious fault and just say to yourself "no pressure now, i have already failed."

A pint of Jack Daniels. Seriously , if you are nervous and easily intimidated you probably are not a safe driver and you need more experience. Practice until you become confident , then try again. Good luck.
