I just got my ears pierced last week, the guy gave me no cleaner but he said use anti bacterial soap. I fiddle with my hands alot- and have been tightening them on and off. Tonight, I noticed that my earlobes were a little red. I cleaned them anyways and then they got itchy. So now I'm sort of freaked out.

1. How am I supposed to clean them?
2. How often am I supposed to clean them?
3. How do I tell if they're infected or not?
4. What do I do if it's infected?
Help, Please! and Thank you! :)

1. How am I supposed to clean them? Use hydrogen peroxide, twirl the earrings as you dribble the Hydrogen Peroxide on them

2. How often am I supposed to clean them? 2 times a day for the next week.

3. How do I tell if they're infected or not? really red, pus coming out, painful, swelling

4. What do I do if it's infected? The same thing, You can use a SMALL amount of triple antibiotic ointment on them. Place the ointment on the ear and twirl the earring to get the ointment into the opening. However if the infection gets really bad, see a doctor for antibiotic medication.

Finally, wash your hands before doing this and keep your hands away from the open wound while it is healing!

You should use cotton balls and some isopropyl alcohol to clean your earrings and ear where it's pierced- but wash your hands first.

If it's red and irritated around the piercing, then it's inflamed, and could be infected (does it feel hot- change in temperature? is there any oozing? these are true signs of an infection)

Clean your earrings 2x per day, once in the morning, and once at night- AND DON'T TOUCH THEM ALL DAY.

If your piercings are infected, I would suggest going to your medical doctor, and have him/her examine you, and determine if you need an antibiotic. Usually they give an oral (one you swallow) antibiotic, and things calm down relatively quickly (3-5 days).

I would suggest not going back to that guy to get any other piercings!

Calm down. This is not a biggie. Just dip a q-tip into rubbing alcohol and swab it around the front and back about 4 or 5 times a day. If they are infected, they will get really red and puffy. Full of puss. Take the ear-rings out and gently squeeze the puss out. But that rarely ever happens.

clean them before you go to bed and when you wake up , use alcohol, dip a cotton ball in alcohol, if it is infected there will be some kind of crust around the earing , your lobe will be red and sore, your lobe could even turn purple, if it is infected only touch it when your cleaning it and clean it up to 5 times a day. if after 2 - 3 weeks it's still infected take it out. DON'T SWITCH EARINGS !!!

Dont worry!

Just clean them like u did before u got them pierced. but use something soft like cotton. and be gentle with them and try not tro worry about them 24/7.

They are wounded if you feel intence pain in the area. use a simple first aid ointment that you use for any normal wounds and apply it on both sides of the ear and it will spread by itself.

and do keep something like an ear clip or something so that it wont get closed again and if your using artificial jewlary, do take them off at nights because they are not to be put on so often.

well for all of my body piercings (not counting my ears) i have been told to use sea salt mixed in warm water (an 1/8 of a teaspoon to a half a cup of warm water) just dip in a q-tip or guaze pad and hold it up there.. Clean it everyday for at least a month or 2.
