i have a 2003 F-250 superduty the drivers side axle shaft broke ( the part between the 4x4 hub and the U-joint in the steering knuckle) from the U-joint to the differential is fine. Does anyone know where i can get a new or used end shaft? FoMoCo wants 197.50 for it. any ideas on where to get it cheaper

Try local wrecking yards, some specialize in light duty trucks just like some have mostly Japanese, US, etc.

It's cheapest to wrench the part out yourself, but most will do it for you. Price is usually about half that for late models except stuff like fenders, seats, airbags, etc.
