Dont do it!! its really not necessary... there are so many puppys/dogs out there that need homes..why would you want to create a mixed breed dog when the rescues/humane societies/etc are so full that millions dogs are being put to sleep on a daily basis... rethink what you are doing and why....smile

ADDITION!!!!!!....someone said you posted this question proir to this and I checked it out...hmmm you did and you got harrased then also...why come back for more??

question in point is: What dog breed should you mix with an Akita?

and in that question you stated you were not breeding you were just a curious person.... hmmm tells me how much you really know about breeding....

to all posters below me check this other question out that this person posted just a few hours ago..... not really cool to screw with people!!!this is what kt_rox100 posted( bad kt!!):

****Everybody that answered my Akita Breeding question im sorry!?
Im not a professional breeder and im not actually breeding an Akita. Im just playing a computer game! Sims 2 Pets!!! Its my fave breed in the game! I love animals and i would never ever do that! I was being stupid and acted like i was really breeding one so that people that didn't play Sims 2 would know!

By doing what you are doing, you are basically becoming a "puppy mill". Breeding two dogs from different breeds does nothing to produce quality animals, further the breed standards, or do anything but create puppies that need homes. Despite what people think, breeding dogs to produce puppies is not a quick way to make money.... not if you do it well at least. Puppies need medical care, quality food, and other care. Leave the breeding to those who know what they are doing.... people with AKC, UKC or other licenses to have breeding kennels.
People who want puppies can contact reputable breeders and ask for puppies that are not show or breeding quality and are sold with limited registrations (meaning that the new owner agrees to have the pet sterilized once they are old enough and receive their pedigree and registration papers once proof of sterilization is provided to the breeder) or they can go to one of the many public shelters and adopt an animal that needs a good home.
Breeding two animals together just to produce puppies is nothing short of totally irresponsible.

I've got some advice: Don't.

If you look at the question I just posted a few minutes ago, you'll understand why I feel so strongly about this. Dogs die in shelters everyday. If those eight people you have lined up to get these akita/gsd mixes instead went out and adopted a dog from the shelter, that would be eight less homeless dogs out there.

Never mix German Shepard with another breed and the same for the Akita.
What is your objective with this mix?
Have your Akita spayed if you keep her to be a pet, otherwise get yourself a breeding pair, meaning dogs that conform to the specific breed`s standards, or, if your dog already conforms, breed her with a quality Akita dog.

Here are six German Shepard/Akita mixes that back yard breeders such as your self have destine to lives in shelters and rescues. Why don't you direct the people that want puppies from you to sites such as Petfinder and give homeless dogs a good life instead of adding to the overpopulation and euthanizing of dogs. This is from a list of thousands. If you were a responsible pet owner you would get your dogs fixed and try to help find other homeless dogs a good home.

why? Is there a demand for this cross? What will you do with the puppies? My first suggestion is find homes for at least 8 puppies before preceding! And also, have these dogs had hip checks, eye checks, etc. How much do you really know about breeding? So, could we have some more info, why do you want to breed these two?

are you the one on here last night? sounds very familiar. if not you don't know near enough all you need to know is there are enough mixed puppies in the world, the best place you can learn about mixing these two breeds would be to go down to your local animal shelter and look at the mixed breed pups and full breed pups. i'm sure there will be a shep/akita mix already there for your pleasure. then they can tell you all of those pups you are looking at are going to be euthanised as soon as they close. maybe they would let you stay and watch, since you know so much. all you need to know is spay and neuter your dogs.

Yes, do not do it!!!

Why would you breed an Akita to a German Shepherd?
More importantly, why would you breed at all??
You have no reason for doing it.
Get those dogs altered as soon as possible!!!
