I do believe that there is a "God", but definetely not the Christian interpretation (or any other interpretation by organized religion for that matter). I believe that God is whatever peope can believe in and have hope in to get them through their lives and live to be the best, smartest people they can be. I think the Christian idea that there's a guy on a cloud, playing The Sims and taking notes on our actions so he can decide how much Purgatory we have to go through, is one of the stupidest concepts out there today. People should look at the world around them, make experience about it, and then decide what exactly God is to them. Then, after deciding what God really is to them, following that to help them become the best person they can be. (please note that I'm not saying create your own God out of your own beliefs. If you're homophobic, an insurance salesman, and have 3 kids, don't make God into a homophobic insurance salesman with 3 kids that won't help you any. As I said, find out what God is to you, then learn from it. If you have done so correctly, you won't know your God too well. You won't have it figured out. Only by figuring it out can you learn and become a better person.) I know what I've said may be very confusing, but once understood, it is the most powerful and only religious belief/tool you'll ever need.

The Bible does not contradict itself ever. If you read and study the Bible and stop listening to those others who never read the Bible you will discover this. You nor anyone else can read one verse from the Bible and say you know about it. That's silly. That's like saying because you know how to count to five in Spanish that you can now speak Spanish. Silly huh? God gave us the Bible as a learning tool and a method for living and a lineage for Jesus from Adam to Jesus Himself. Jesus was there when Adam was created. Lots of creationist like to spout how the Bible teaches the world is only 6000 years old. This is just an example of how stupid all this is. There are 3 earth ages in the Bible. When God created the universe and earth, it took Him 6 days. How long is a day in eternity? God doesn't tell us that. Time does not exist in eternity. A day in God's life could be millions of years. How do you count time in eternity when it doesn't exist? This is just an example of how these guys play with the truth. Actually it's Satan who is playing with the truth and so very many people are falling for it. Be one of the few and follow Jesus to Salvation. Learn about the Bible and go to church and fellowship with other Christians and you'll be amazed at what you don't know. God Bless.

God is our creator. God is a being. An entity. Before there was time. Angels are beings. Thus we are human beings . . . . created in his image.
The Bible is not contradictory. The problem is people have to look under a microscope b/c if they believe they are a religious fanatic. I am not one of those people. I have no denomination (Baptist, Catholic, Protestant and so on) The Bible is a book. A compulation of historical facts, stories, letters of the Saints.
If you read the Old Testament without the New you will find contradictions. Or what seems to be contradictions. It is a book. Just like any book it needs to read from beginning to end. The constitution, declaration, bill of rights were either ammended or added to. The laws of physics and science philosophies are added to and "anew" as new discoveries are found. I don't blame anyone for not understanding it, but why is the Bible under a microscope? Things change, as population grows: ideas, faiths and even science adapts. The New Testament was the New Covanent. Years later No more floods, no more destruction of sinful humans, many more people so more rules for cleanliness, etc. I am using simple examples but to find a contradition pulling text out of context is not proof. The Bible is a compulation of history, events and letters INSPIRED by God and through the Holy Spirit it becomes real.
I believe in God b/c I have been witness to many things that I have felt, seen and believe. I have faith in the fact that my creator loved me so much that he sent his only son to die so that I might go to heaven. Because of sin I was eternally damned and he changed that with a pure and holy sacrifice.
I am not a fan of orgianized religion either, I think it gives God a bad name. We need to get together as people, Gods people not as a crazy group ready to kill abortion clinic doctors.
God Bless

I think people just wanted an answer to where we came from so some dudes just got really drunk and started talking out of their asses and ended up writing the bible. I dont believe cuz it seems like its another cult but its unbelieveable how it says this and then it says that. Its all about how much of it you believe... I dont know how you can believe that there is a god but there is no aliens. I've seen a lot of crap about aliens that is real... dont get me wrong, i've seen some hoaxes too. At least there is something to base that theory on. What theory is there to believe in god?? One book thats it.

I think we have something in common, in that I started my search for God by realizing that we do not have the ability to imagine what it would look like before the world began. You said it well, where would those metors come from? Great question. Mine was slightly different, I realized that even complete darkness is something.
The human mind was not designed to be able to see the world before it existed, evidence of a creator.
So there are my thoughts from many year ago, just as you asked.
My final thought to share is this, don't let your lack of understanding of God discourage you from seeking Him out. You will find Him, its very easy because He is NOT hiding.
(when you find Him, you will discover that He's not much on organized religion either. But He does have a plan that works very very nicely)

God is a myth. If you claim that everything needs a cause, but your god doesn't, that is special pleading. It is a fallacy.
Also, just claiming that infinite regressions can't exist doesn't make it so. There's no reason there can't be an infinite series of caused causes.
To complicate things further, there seem to be many uncaused causes. As you get down to the quantum level, you see that most things seem to act on a statistical basis, not direct causes. With electron tunneling, for example, the location of a particular electron is statistical. If you put a barrier near one, the electron has a percentage chance of just suddenly being on the other side of the barrier.

Oh please, if god was necessary for creation then who made god? You can't just arbitrarily stop with that outrageous assumption! The answer is simply unknown at this time.
In truth, "god" is an invisible friend like the one lots of children have when they feel lonely or sad. That's a fairly harmless belief, but when people start to slaughter each other over details it turns into a nightmare so horrendous it threatens humanity's very survival - over *nothing*!

# deity: any supernatural being worshipped as controlling some part of the world or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force
# a man of such superior qualities that he seems like a deity to other people; "he was a god among men"
# idol: a material effigy that is worshipped; "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image"; "money was his god"

It is like you said, there has to be a creator of all things. And i know for a fact that you go some where after you die. There is a soul because i had a terrible accident once and i was looking down at my body. So i know the human soul exists.

The first argument you pose for god was propounded by Thomas Aquinas, and has been considered fallacious for centuries. You are quite right about the biblical self-contradictions [reference]. The bottom line: there is no evidence, or logical reason, to believe in god -- or, to believe in no god. It follows from the latter that belief in god is completely useless -- it can have no consequences in the real world. So, for the sake of simplicity, I don't.
