well it would it a person who accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior in their life. many would define this as being a Christian but there is so much more. would describe it more as a wonderful relationship with Jesus.being able to talk to Him , about worries and pains and upsides of your life. able to trust Him in scary times. enjoying every moment of life with Him.

To believe that you are a sinner. To believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and rose three days later. To know that you can be renewd through Him and forgiven of your sins.
To believe that Jesus Christ IS God.
There are actually a lot of things that make a Christian a true Christian because there are a lot of people out there who claim to be Christian but do not live a life that honors God. But the above are the basics. If you truly belive these things with all your heart than you can consider yourself a Christian. :)
If you have more questions or want to know more. I would be happy to answer them for you.

A better question would be, what is it like to have a relationship with God. There are different denominations who claim to be "christian" yet they do not believe in Jesus, One God, or Satan. They simply utilize the title of "christian" and teach from the Bible, twisting the scriptures to deceive and attract people to their "religion".
Note: This is a sign that we are living in the last days.
All "Christians" will not be saved, even those who do acknowledge Jesus, One God, and Satan. Don't forget, that Satan believes in God as well, and he definitely will NOT be saved. Judge a "christian" by their actions, belief in God, and their Christlike example. Not by the title of "christian".

1 Believe that Jesus died for your sins..2. Believe that Jesus was born of a virgin and died and rose the third day. 3 The way to the Father is through Christ Jesus.. 4. Trinity of Father , Son, and Holy spirit. God in three persons 5.Ask for forgiveness which Jesus paid by his shed blood (grace). 6. Confess and be baptised in the name of the Father , son and Holy spirit, Confession that Jesus is Lord. Baptism is really just an obedience thing.

It's a process over time, it's not going to happen overnight. But there are steps to take. First pray and ask the Father into your heart (mind) and life. Ask for change of you. Ask for guidance and direction. Ask for forgiveness of your sins. Do all this in Jesus name (authority).
Come to the reality that as long as you dwell in the flesh body you are going to fall short. All are sinners. Repentance is a change of mind not a license to sin. Perfection is maturity or full age in His Word. We are to produce fruit and glorify Christ.
His Word is an life learning process. Trust this man or no man unless you check it out in His Word. I've been at it earnestly for 16 years. I'm producing fruit but feel I'm still in the process. Don’t clean house (clean up your act) without filling that void with the Word of God.
Luke 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
Luke 11:25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
Luke 11:26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
By the way, born again means born from above, check it out.

Simply to be a follower of Christ. I disagree (respectfully) with those who stake doctrinal positions on this (e.g., you HAVE to believe such and such about Jesus). There was no organized church or set of doctrinal beliefs in the time immediately after Christ's death and resurrection (and Peter would undoubtedly have failed even a basic modern catechism test). There were only followers of Christ, people who strove to follow His teachings and example.

One must be born again into the family of God. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; be baptised; love God with all your heart, follow His word; obey the Ten Commandments; love the Lord with all of your heart, develop a personal relationship with Him and help others to do the same.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that who so ever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
The Right to Enter Paradise
Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

in the most basic it is the belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God and to try to live as He did unfortunately the message has been sullied by corrupt men who only paid lip service to His teachings and these men used His words to try and control the majority of people I could go on but this is not the place to preach some others might remember this

When you become a christian you join a private club. That is all it is, just a private club where like minds meet and talk. Like any other social club in the world.
