I have a puppy his name is Fred. I'v been trying to crate train him for about two months he has a habit that he can't break where he always goes in his cage. I need to know how to break his habit of going to the bathroom in his cage?

It does sound like the crate is probably too big. Not only is a smaller crate better for house-breaking, but (believe it or not) your dog will like it better. Also, I would suggest not putting any type of bedding in the crate. While it sounds bad, if he goes in his crate he will have to stnad or lay in the mess. This will make more of a mess for you, but will encourage him not to go next time. And don't worry because this problem is actually pretty common. While dogs are not "supposed" to go in their crate, often untrained puppies will until they understand that the crate is their cave and that it is very unpleasant for their cave to be wet and stinky. Good luck!

You need to get a cage that has a divider so that you can section off the space if theres too much. The rul is that dogs dont mess where they sleep but if theres too much room in the cage they will go in one end and lay in the other. So you need topartition the space so that the dog has enough room to turn around and lay down, thats it. Good luck.

Sounds like the crate is too large for the pup. Get dividers or a smaller crate.

have you taken him to the vet to see if there's a medical reason such as a bladder infection as to why he can't hold his pee? also how big is the crate? all the bigger a dog's crate should be is enough for them to stand up turn around and lay back down. if you give them more room than that they will potty and be able to not lay in it.

are you home all day or is someone with him? you could take him/her out every 15 minutes -
This is odd cause dogs never go in their crate.

Your cage is too big for your dog. Use a barrier to make it just long enough for his length. And be sure to get him outside often, and praise, praise, praise !!

sounds like its too big. Make it smaller by adding blankets to the back *if its plastic* or getting dividers.
