I think 8 dollars is very reasonable for an hour. if you don't have the time then hiring someone is a great idea, your dog will become more relaxed and more socialized the more outdoor exercise he gets. but if he is a small breed, or aging then you may want to find out if they offer something shorter than an hour:)
hope this helps

Yes, I'd pay $8 and hour to have someone walk my dog, or even $8 for a half-hour walk. Provided:
1. I could observe the dog-walker with other dogs first.
2. I could observe the dog-walker with my dog before deciding.
3. I could observe the dog-walker introduce the dogs to each other.
4. The dog-walker was insured.
5. The dog-walker was experienced.
6. The dog-walker had references, both professional and personal.
7. The dog-walker would guarantee a certain limited number of dogs would be walked at the same time as my dog.
8. All dogs would be properly immunized.
9. The dog-walker would tell me the route the walk would take, and would not get upset if I "dropped in, " before, during, or after a walk, just as you can at a good day care center for kids.
I think I thought of everything.

Many people will pay to have someone walk their dog, especially people who work all day and do not want their dog o be cooped up for eight to ten hours a day. The average rate is $8-15 for 30 minutes, nights and weekends are more. While this may seem high, some people consider their pets family and do it because they love them. Most people have to work in order to provide for not only themselves and their families, but their pets. If they can have someone get their dog out of the house for half an hour in the middle of the day, they are thinking only about the needs of their pet and are willing to spend money on what they love.

Personally no, I'd rather walk my own dogs because I'd worry too much about them getting lost or hurt or something. However, I've been a dog-walker before, and got plenty of responses to my flyers advertising about the same price. People who were busy but wanted the best for their dogs were very interested.

I am not sure what part of the world you live in, but here $8.00 an hour is too much. Not to mention the fact that most dog walkers walk more than 1 dog at a time. I would think $5.00 an hour would be acceptable. If you are considering this occupation, go for it, sounds like fun. Just be sure to know your "clients". Be sure to see verification of shots, and their medical history, should anything happen while in your care, and be sure to know which dogs go to which vets, and be sure that they have tags, should they get lost. This job really requires a trust worthy person, most people who would pay someone would expect total trust of you.

If your sitting at home doing nothing why would you pay someone to walk your dog? You need the walk as much as your dog does.
Now if you work outside them home then maybe it would be worth having someone come in and walk your dog. And as far as payment I would check it out and see if there really is a dog walking service and see what they charge.

I wouldn't trust anyone to walk my dogs that didn't know my dogs well and have a solid background in positive dog training/behavior. Too much potential for problems. I'd be willing to pay for it, but I'd have to see credentials, experience, and references.

It depends on how much work this (person) does if he/she did a good job then i would pay he/she at least 9.00$ but if they care for my dog clean it brush it and the whole 9 yards then i would pay 11.00$ for the good work but my dog lives out-side so he goes when he wants.
