I hope that you mean regular 'whole' milk, rather than just lowfat or reduced fat. Milk also helps some people go to sleep!
If you want to add to your weight gain, adding something sweet helps add a few extra calories and some sugar to your milk (Ovaltine is nutritious, but regular chocolate milk syrup or powder would do, too).
If you really want to pack on pounds fast, you could try a protien powder designed for bodybuilders or other athletes. Those are designed to help build and repair muscle when you work out for hours every day - if you aren't exercising, the extra calories head right for the tummy and hips.
One of the first habits when switching to a weight gain diet is to stop drinking water, and only drinking milk.
Let me know how it turns out!

The most important thing to remember is, if you are too thin and need to gain some weight, add total carbs, calories, amounts, etc., in a healthily amount and way. Keep doing some exercising some, to maintain so that what you gain doesn't go straight to your waist. Walking and swimming will help your weight go in the right directions...light weights can be a help too.
And, eatting right before you go to bed will not add it in a positive way either.
The milk is OK, but still a reasonable amount. All drinking a lot before going to bed will do, it make you get up during the night to go to the bathroom.

I don't even know how to answer this since the commercial I have seen that drinking milk helps you to lose inches. Perhaps, I was deceived by propaganda once again. Heck just tonight, I saw news broadcast that said drinking skim milk instead of whole milk, you can lose up to 15 pounds in a year. So, I guess I am confused on the media findings. I suggest, you gain weight by eating any meal and then going to bed. If you really want to gain weight eat a hearty meal then go to bed. Odd, you just picked milk for this question.

Vitamin D milk is good no matter what you are trying to do. and yeah drink lots of it you cant overdose on milk. Before bed after you wake up and all day long just replace your regular can or 20 ounce bottle of soda with a carton of milk instead it is better for you.
