According to the words of the churches the men have been on the earth for 6000 years, based upon the words of Moses. BUT most do not understand the following words which say that Moses was a LIAR, John 1:17-18 and John 5:37 John 3:14 and John 4:20-22 John 6:32-67 and John 10:8 John 3:19-21 and Exodus 20:21 If you would have believed in only the words spoken in the gospels of Jesus you would have known the truth by now. Jesus said, that the earth was 5,6 billion years old, and that human have been on the earth for the past 1,96 million years. It was Satan who you were listening to that told you 6000 years. Read the first 20 verses of the Gospel of Jesus according to Bartholomew which can be found online. .

4.6 billion - oops, there I go disagreeing with everybody, guess we can't make up our minds after all.
Anyway, here's the chronology for you:
First billion years nothing happened because the earth was too violent and unstable;
Next three billion years life had formed but never got beyond the single-celled variety;
Only 600 million years ago, multicellular life finally got started after fully half the life of the sun had run out.
By the way, the person who said "carbon dating" proves this is mistaken. Carbon dating is only good for 40,000 to 50,000 years before it loses its accuracy. The ages of rocks are found by radiometric dating, that is measuring what portion of radioactive elements are left in a sample from knowing their half-lives. All these tests converge on 4.6 billion years.

If Earth was once part of something else, before the big bang, how old was it. Carbon dating can't go back that far. No one really has any iron clad facts to prove how old Earth is. But you can be sure it will be her many more years after your gone. And the whole point of this being, Do you care. I don't care, it's here and that's good enough.
