I got the nikon coolpix L3 digi cam for Christmas, and it came with the picture project software. I installed the program, and downloaded the software update, but when I try to transfer my pics to the computer, it says it's not connected. My computer is older, and I run on WinME, but I have all the needed updates for it. There are 2 USB ports on the back of the computer, does anyone know what I can do to make it work? I have done countless hours of searching online for problems, and this is my last resort!!

My only guess is that either the camera has a problem with the usb connector or circuitry, the camera has been serviced before and possibly some additional completion steps of the adjustment weren't completed (unlikely - I only know of Fuji cameras that act this way) or perhaps the drivers are not properly installed.
I tried to find you some drivers online - but only found some you had to pay for - poop on that.

I'll keep an eye open and see if there is anything else I can find.
My only other suggestion is that you take to a shop and see if they can tell you if it is the camera or not. Try to find someone who won't charge you for this - they just have to hook it up to a computer and see if the computer regonizes it.

i would read the fine print on the box as to the mininum requirements for the software to operate correctly, or the literature that came with the camera. like many devices of recent years, your operating system may not be compatible with newer electronics, and possibly, an ungrade to a new windows will help, such as xp. the me edition may not have the drivers needed to automatically acknowledge the camera, and those on the disk may not have been loadable. this is just a guess, based on your description of the problem. in any case, i hope that you find a solution and are able to use your new camera soon. i love mine and it brings me a lot of joy to use it and organize my photos.
