With that price range, no question the Nikon Coolpix S series. I have recently purchased a S5. This camera is awesome. 6MP and very easy to learn its features. Some Wal-Mart stores carry this camera and usually they have the best price. My mother who was in town for the holidays decided to buy one while she was visiting. She purchased it for $199.99. She is not good with technology but is already learning her way around various camera features. I have also convinced my in-laws to purchase the camera as well. The camera also has a ION recharagable battery which will obtain a full charge within an hour. And lasts for a long time! Below is a link for a Nikon Coolpix S9 for $199. The S9 is a newer model with a 3'' Viewer. Also see this site for complete product description. Dont' forget the memory card! I have purchased from this site and used the free shipping option and got it in three days!

Also below is a link to CNET of a review of Nikon Digital Camera products. Nikon's rank near the top for the $200-300 range.

From my experience this is by far the highest quality combined with ease of use camera I have found on the market.

Can't tell you any exact one to get, but Kodak Easyshare is easy to use and not too expensive. It all depends on the kind of camera you want and what you are looking for. I got a Kodak Easyshare Z710 because it has a high zoom (10xZoom and 7.1 Megapixels) for $250. Either way, what you should go for is something with Optical Zoom and Megapixels. Don't ever worry about Digital Zoom (useless) because all it does is increase the size of the picture. The same thing you can do on a computer or store anyway before, if you need to print.
