Things only become hard to do for your loved one when it feels like all you have done means nothing.

I had to watch my first husband die from liver cancer because he refused chemo or any other form of treatment because of what he saw some of his friends go through before they died. He didn't want to suffer anymore from the side efects of chemo or radiation just for an extra 6 months of life. I agreed with him because the quality of life would not have been any better than the end result anyway. (If you are going to be constantly sick to the stomach, lose your hair, spend every day getting chemo anyway, where is the quality of life.?) I promised him I would take care of him till the end and I did just that. I would do it all again too.

First you say someone, then you say loved one.

For someone, I have tore down and bagged up several bloody hanggliders and paragliders. Cut one unconscious friend out of his tangled paraglider and helped carry him to a life-flight copter. Picked up the body of another very dead friend and tried to make sense of his day old crash site. Pulled the body of a co-worker out of his Van after he walked to his van after a fall and died. Not as hard as it sounds...just a downer.

For someone I loved? The hardest thing is having nothing to do as someone you love dies and is buried. Digging a grave, building a coffin, work calms me and we are a do it yourself family, it hurt to pay for stuff done by strangers when we were capable of doing it all ourselves for a beloved family member.

For someone I was in love with? Giving a cheater one more chance. Foolish, heart wrenching and very painful.
