checking the vin numbers...tag mounted to dash on the drivers side, look through the windsheild.. another is located under the hood, located on the firewall, also you have a sticker on the inside of the drivers door, you also have a sticker in the trunk, these are in different places depending on the make of vehicle..

it all depends on the make of car,,you take the serial no,s off the motor and transmission,and that's usually all that matters,,buy you didn't say what kind of car or anything,,the no,s are located in different places on different cars,,you,ll just have to find the motor no,s and the transmission no,s and then try and match them up,,its harder to do than it sounds,,you can find the no,s on it,,i don't know what kind of a car you have,,good luck hope this help,s.
