I would see a doctor to have it removed. I stepped on a toothpick once and knew I didnt get it all the way out, but thought it would work its way out to the surface. About 2 years later I woke up one day and my foot was the size of a basketball. I ended up in the ER having surgery to remove it on a painfully infected foot they couldnt get numb due to the infection. I had a drain in my foot for 2 weeks to let the infection drain out, had to be on antibiotics an dmissed work cause I couldnt walk. Looking back I caused myself a lot of pain and money by ignoring the problem.

Using a drawing salve or any other method, try to get the end of the splinter to surface. Once that's done, put Elmer's Glue on it, and when dry, just pull the glue off and the splinter comes with it. If it's rather deep, you will probably need a Dr. to remove it. You've been very lucky to not have infected, for as long as it's been there.

If you have had the splinter this long, it has probably built up a bit of scar tissue or skin around it. If it is coming to the surface and beginning to bother you you can cover it with drawing salve (available at Walgreen's or walmart pharmacy), cover it with a bandage and make sure to check it everyday. Change the dressing and the salve until it comes to the surface where you can pull it out with tweezers., If this does not work in 3-5 days I suggest that you have a doctor look at it. Good luck.

As a doctor I would say not to listen to anyone who tells you to fish it out yourself. You need to go to the doctor right away. Having the splinter in there that long can cause major problems. It could send bacteria in the blood. It may need to be lanced and only doctors have the right method to do so.

I had a splinter for about a week once I could not get out and them my friend told me to soak it in Hydrogen Peroxide mixed half-and-half with water to make the wood swell up and then pull it out. If that doesnt work go to your doctor and just see the nurse if you cant get an appointment.

ther is no way a spintter can and will stay for six years now that could possibly be something else that you need to go seek professional help and for six years come on if you do not have a docotor then i'm sure there are clinics and there are some doctors that do work for free called volunteer hours. see what that is tha's stuck in you.

Get some epsom salts (or unscented radox bath salts) and mix it with glycerine and some manuka honey into a thick paste. Put that on the area and bandage it. Change the bandage daily. It basically draws or sucks foreign objects out.

I broke off a needle in my foot when I was a teen. The doctor could not get it out, i was screaming so loud. So my mom told him to sew it up. 2 years latter the thing started working it's way out and I had to have surgery to get it out and take care of the scar tissue. GO TO THE DOCTOR!

6years? WOW!Are you sure its a splinter and not an internal injury?
Anyway if you are positive that it is a splinter rub some olive oil ...always works for me.
