Soul is an energy that holds all the parts of the body together. Every part that has no energy is paralyzed, it does not mean however that energy is like limbs that can be cut. When that physical part is weak or severed there is just no energy in it though the active parts or the moving parts still are energized.
When someone dies, whether he believes or not in God, his soul is released to become part of the whole energy of the universe. Thus showing you that there really is no heaven or hell. It is just a state of mind depending on how strong your mind have been manipulated to believe in it. Your spirit (different from the soul) is the print of your life that you spend on earth. It may seem that you are in heaven because those you left behind have given good words about your deeds and nothing but praises are credited to your works. Of course, the hell you are in could be those that are very thankful because you are no longer a menace to the society and they wish your name could no longer be remembered and your death be a lesson to those who may follow your footsteps. Your wickedness shall be charged against you. It is hell that whenever they remember you, they say your death is not enough to appease them.

If a person is so isolated that he does not have access to the scriptures or other information to make a judgment as to why he was created and what is the purpose of his life then the Almighty is the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate and He knows how to deal with such situation.
However, a person innate nature tells him what is right and what is wrong. Besides one can easily learn why not to do to others what he does not others to do to him. Is that difficult to learn. Besides, not every one is like Abraham who searched for and found without a mentor and despite all the tyrannical difficulties about God and claimed that there is only one God and the rest is creations with no exceptions. So he can at least contemplate on the purpose of creation and of his own life and live in peace with himself.

God is ALWAYS fair, and knows their hearts. He will not send someone to hell by accident or unfairly. Part of who god is, is ultimately Just. No one human can judge like God can. We are either too lenient, or too harsh in our judgements, because we are not all knowing, nor have all the details, nor love the person enough to die for their sins. The holy spirit helps people too, in ways we don't see.
One more thing, being in Yahoo R&S section, you don't fall in this category, even the atheists. Most on here have at least heard part of the good news! You can't just claim ignorance when you get there. I wish you all the best, happy 2007!

What actually happens to those who have not heard the gospel depends upon several factors.
It depends first of all (but not finally) on how they have responded to God's general revelation. In the case of those who have neglected or rejected such general revelation (no doubt the case with the vast majority of those who have never heard of Christ), they're lost, condemned to a real hell. But note--they are not condemned for what they haven't heard. They are judged for what they have heard and rejected. In this sense, as R.C. Sproul rightly states, "there are no innocent people in the world."
In the case, however, of the one who has never heard of Christ, yet sincerely worships God as he knows Him, and lives consistently with law. as he understands it, we do have some grounds to believe that God may be pleased to grant a further special revelation involving the Gospel of Christ Himself, which one would then, in turn, either accept or reject. Exactly how or when would God arrange for such a further revelation? Might somehow correlate with bible here? The Scripture allows many such details to remain hidden, while being unequivocal about the fact that God will judge with perfect justice . Could this be what is happening today?
Does all this detail somehow seem trivial to you? Be certain that it is not! In fact, this subject in all of its related subtlety is absolutely critical. Among other things, for instance, correct Biblical exegesis on this subject provides an unequaled incentive for the continued Christian mission of proclaiming the gospel of jesus to the ends of the earth. As the bible says,
"How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Technology has taken care of that, most cultures have access to TV, and or have had missionaries go to teach them, as for the few that have NOT heard, after the second coming where EVERY shall see him, then is when they have ONE more chance to believe. God took care of that scenario a long time ago my friend.

Nobody falls into this circumstance, because the name of the One True God is mentioned from eternity to eternity.
Of course, God never unjsutly punishes disabled people; punishment will occur by the law of cause and effect only to people who consciously intend to ignore God .

The Lord will only judge people according to what they know.

If they have never heard about Jesus then they will probably be judged on how good they was to people around them and how they helped ease the pain of others etc.

God Bless and have a wonderful New Year !

Everyone will know about God before they die. The ones who refuse the word of God and refuse to accept Jesus end up in hell. I know it sounds harsh, but that is what the Bible says, not me. It says that people will try and talk about their works and stuff, but God will say, "depart from me now for I never knew you".

The bible says that people who never knew and die will be judged lighter then those who did know but did bad anyways. When people die they go into a waiting period until the day of judgment. When that day comes the dead will be risen and they will go to heaven or hell.

How can you be sure that they don't have the chance to know?

Here is what a famous Christian writer said in one of her sixty odd books:

“ Outside of the Jewish nation there were men who foretold the appearance of a divine instructor. These men were seeking for truth, and to them the Spirit of Inspiration was imparted. One after another, like stars in the darkened heavens, such teachers had arisen. Their words of prophecy had kindled hope in the hearts of thousands of the Gentile world.” Desire of Ages, p33

This is in harmony with what Jesus Himself says:

10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 11 And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

The above texts shows that there will be people who come from the four corner of the earth who has never known Jesus, but will be saved because they have lived a righteous life according to thier conscience. Think about Melchizedek, and the father-in-law of Moses in Midian. There were neither Jewish nor Christians, but they will certainly be found in heaven.

Now look at this text: (Zachariah 13:6)

6 If someone asks him, 'What are these wounds on your body?' he will answer, 'The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.'

Who do you think they are, asking Jesus about the wounds on His body, to which He replied "the wounds I was given at the house of my friends.' All Christians know what those wound scares are, and where He suffered it in, that is in the country of His own nation, in Israel.

That is a prove that the All-knowing God will judge people by their hearts, and know exactly from every nation, from the four corners of the earth, there will be pure and honest people who have been visited by the angels or The Holy Spirit, or even just through dreams, visions and their conscience which they follow and obey, surrendering their lives before their last breath, repenting of their sins and accept the sacrifice of Jesus.

Yes, they can not be numbered. Only bigots think that heaven will be filled with their own church members. I don't buy that nonsens. I believe that there are God's people in every age, nation and religion, who will be saved in the Kingdom of God at last because God look into our heart not only from our outward appearance and hyprocritical words that came out of our lips.

On the other hand there will be millions of so called and the outwardly good Christians who will be lost, because their hearts are not fully surrendered to Him but to the Ruler of Darkness or to Mammon.
