He stood me up a week before Christmas. Did not hear from him until a little while ago. I didn't tell him to go to hell or call him any names, but I let him know he really hurt me and that I couldn't trust him. Before I never questioned him, I trusted him no problem, he seemed like a good person. I really like him but I am afraid he's going to hurt me again, not want to stay, or do another dissapearing act.....

He is a Sheriff, claims deaths of co workers and other officers made him withdraw. I understand that issue (and wonder if I should look it up) Still he agreed he should have called and apologized for it....like he didn't know it would hurt my felings....

What the hell should I do???? I did miss him like crazy but I never called. Now I don't know if I should give him a last chance, but I hate being the one giving ultimatums, it's not my style.

You sound like you're willing to invest unconditional time and effort into making this r'ship work but remember to look out for yourself too.

If his not considering your feelings, especially during a season when companionship is emphasised then maybe you should just be brave enough to confront him.

Telling him how you feel isn't necessarily giving him an ultimatum.

Good Luck.

If his co-workers really did die, than you can't really blame him for not calling. They may have been close to him, in that case he probably had a lot on his mind. He may have been too depressed to call as well. I say give him a second chance, just take it slow and let him know where you stand on him not calling.

Maybe you can give him the benefit of the doubt this one time. I don't know the extent of your relationship or if you just started dating. Let go of any selfishness you may have for now and just see it for what it is. If it happens again or you notice a pattern, move on. Don't ignore anything you feel could be red flags.

give him the benefit of the doubt this time. but make it clear that he need to be more communcative with you.
But you must understand that he wont tell you everything that happened during his day at work.
law enforcement is a very stressfull job and they see horrific things everyday and keep things to themselves. Unless you are in law enforcement too there is no way you can truely understand what his day was like.

Just because he's had a tragedy doesn't mean he should have neglected you. He should have called you and told you what was going on, maybe given you a chance to be there for him.

He sounds like he's missing something in his head.

The Holidays bring sad memories for some people, and your b/f is one of them. It's something that you are going to have to accept if you are to stay with him.
Now that you understand his side, and he understands yours, swallow your pride and call him. Do something nice for him like make him dinner and just talk things over.
