You need to get a video converter. Search download.com for video converter. Change it to an mpeg or wmv file then you will be able to edit it in Windows Movie Maker.

Movie Maker is free, but you get what you pay for. I use Pinnacle Studio 10.5 to import the video from the DVD into the computer, then edit it. Studio runs about $80 and there is a free trial version so you can decide if it's what you want before you pay for it.

If you are going to use Movie Maker, the first response is the best one. You will have to find a converter that will recognize the files you have and change them over to something Movie Maker knows how to deal with.
