I have a white gsd(Sally) and a mutt(Spike). When i take either dog out on their own its lovely, they walk along side me, show no agression to other dogs and its a pleasure to wlk them.
But if i take them out together they pull incessantly, growl at other dogs and i end up having to apologise for them and usually cut the walk short.

Any suggestions on how to change this behaviour is uch appreciated!!!!

I think you need to determine which dog is the one causing the problem. USUALLY it's one of the two dogs. That dog is being the alpha. YOU need to be the alpha. Make sure the dog is beside or behind you and never in front of you...in the natural world dogs are NEVER up front unless they are the alpha dog. Walk slowly...never letting the dog get in front of you. keep the leash very short, like you are holding a brief case. I'm not sure how you are walking them, but have one on each side of you, not the two of them together. Do lots of stopping and giving commands such as sit. have treats handy if it helps, but I don't think you should need them. If your dogs know the heal command then tell them to heal. My guess is that this is not the only place that your dog is showing that it thinks it is in charge. You need to be dominant (NOT aggressive or mean or anything like that) but you need to make sure that the dog knows you are in charge (e.g. it shouldn't come on a couch or chair unless you invite it...that kind of thing)...

If you have the Nat'l Geographic channel, watch for the Dog Whisperer tv show (it's incredible), or check out an episode on line. Cesar Milan rules!

Look into guidance from the dog whisperer training theories. There is even an yahoo group that offers advice and help based on his training principles. Sounds to me like when they are together they don't see you as the leader of the pack.

Funny enought when i walk my dog and my mums dog together its a nightmare they pull and get tangled up together , yet if i walk them both whilst pushing the pram there fine i just wal them with the pram or walk them separately.

Walk them separately. It gives you some alone time with each of your dogs. You spend enough time together.
