It is inhumane to toss her out. Take her to a shelter if you decide not to keep her. Chances are she will die a terrible death on her own with no skills.

Some other posts have suggested contacting a feral cat group for advice. That is a great suggestion. Again, ask your local shelter and/or SPCA.

The cat most likely had a bad start in life. if you truly want to love and keep her then let her have time to get used to her new world. like anyone going from one life to a big change she is not ready to just trust. even though you didn't hurt her someone might have. let her roam around (only the room you set that are OK) live life as normal around her. eventually she will come out and give it a try. you are giving her food and water and your not hurting her so she will come around to you, she might be skittish around new people that might not ever change. it will take lots of time and Patience on your part but if you can handle it I'm sure you wont regret it. if this is not something you have the Patience for then find her a good home and know you have done a great thing buy rescuing her and giving her hope for a good life. just putting her back outside isn't a good idea. their are lots of shelters that can find a good home. you were very sweet to do as much as you have for her!! good luck!

Cats who haven't been around people as babies (between 4 weeks and 2 months of age) become frightened of people.
It's like they're wild and almost never become good pets.
The cat is feral. There are whole foundations and groups devoted to these animals, you should look them up in your area and see what services they offer. Usually they pay for spaying and vaccines.
The best thing to do is have her spayed and let her live outside.
Really, she doesn't want to be a pet.
Sorry to give bad news.

Feral or not, there's still a chance you can tame her. It's all in how you go about it though. If you're trying to pick her up and she -clearly- doesn't want you to, that's never going to work. Even if you've had her for a while...let her have her space. Make sure she knows that you're providing her with food, water, and treats. While she's eating, try to stroke her back. If she growls or acts like she's going to run - back off and leave her alone...but keep trying.

Also, talk to her. Not in a high-pitched "Kii-kitty!!!" voice, or a demanding voice, just your regular tone like your talking to another person.

One thing I've tried and actually got results from: When she makes eye contact with you, slowly blink. SLOWLY. For some reason, if you do that, they think you're relaxed. If you're relaxed, they have no reason to be uptight. If you stare back at her with your eyes all wide, she'll think something's up.

Last piece of advice, don't go to her feeling afraid, negative, or mad that she's not loving on you: she'll know.

As you said she is just 3 wks old I would guess she has had a very scary time. She has had to think about defending herself and doesn't trust anyone at this point. A kitten must be with it's mother for at least 6-8 weeks. She maybe got lost from her mom or just was from a ferrel mom.

You must just let her be and just talk to her gently. Don't try to pet her or touch her at this point.

She may be too small to even think of playing with toys.

It's going to take a long time for her to adjust and trust and like I had to learn, is patience and letting go.

You have given her a wonderful start from the cat ghetto's, please just let her be. It may take a year, but I've heard cats come around to be exactly what you want them to be.

If your interested in Rescue Remedy for cats, an herbal remedy, just e-mail me. It really works--I've had a kitten that really came around with it.

Since she is such a baby, just give her time and lot's of blankets and soft areas to rest. Please don't get to impatient as she is such a baby.

Good luck and stay calm.

I'd have to say catnip help. Catnip and other things that make cats happy. Then again, is catnip even good for cats? I never thought about thet, just that a cat rolling around in little green flakes is uber enternaining after.... Actually, saying that could be incriminating ^_^.

But really, try catnip or treats. Feed the treats by hand. Just be patient and don't push it.

If you do not know the history of the cat, is kind of hard to get to very bottom of it. Who knows....the cats parents may of been not so nice also....some kind of inbalance....or the cat could be very scared and not used to human contact...it may take some time to get used to your kindness....DONT GIVE UP YET!!! Obviously someone else did and it would probly be dead if it wern't for you.....be stern but loving and hopefully one day the cat will love you back!!!

How long have you had her? Cats need a lot of adjustment time, and since she was left in an alley, she has emotional issues and trust issues. Take your time, and give her treats, and in time, she will come to you.

Give her or him time. Give it treats, slowly pet it, and try to make the cat feel comfortable, not afraid.
