Actually it was Nebuchanezzar's son, King Belshazzar (See Daniel 5:1-30).
Daniel 5
The Writing on the Wall
1 King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them. 2 While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father [l] had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them. 3 So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. 4 As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.
5 Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. 6 His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way.

Daniel 5
MENE,[d] MENE, TEKEL,[e] UPHARSIN.[f]
26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 TEKEK: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”[g] 29 Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain.
31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.
This chapter until recently was one of the most attacked chapters in Daniel, because no confirmation outside the bible of existed verifying Belshazzar, as king of Babylon. However, the discovery of the Nabonidus Chronicle changed all this. The Nabonidus Chronicle verified the Belshazzar as the son of Nabonidus, who was the known king of Babylonian Empire.

Dear Dmd, thats a wonderful question and his nmae was nebuchanezzer, long name huh? thats who it was, God wrote on the wal and he had all the wise soothsayers and diviners try to read and interit the writing, but now could except daniel. By the way, here is what the writitng said: mene, mene, tekel, Upsharin.
In interpretation: God has Numbered your kingdom and finsihed it, you are weighed in the balance and found wanting, your kingdom is divided and given to the medes and the persians. after this they clothed daniel with robes of scarlet. A wonderful story, it can be found in daniel chapter 5: 25:31. happy new year, and may God Bless you as you read his word.

His name was Belshazzar. He was a great-grandson of Nebuchadnezzar.
Belshazzar was the son of Nabonidus.
I remember reading that Nabonidus was the son of Nebuchadnezzar's daughter.
