I'd go to the DMV and do it in person. That way you ca make sure it is done the way you want it.

It depends on the wording on the title. If it's you you AND him, you would both have to sign to make the change. It it's you OR him, either one of you can make the change without the knowledge or permission of the other. Of course if there a legal owner and financing involved, they have to give their permission also. But generally you have to go in since they can't gather a signature on line.

If the car is paid off, your ex has to sign over his interest in the car. The form depends on your state.

If the car is not yet paid off, you both have to sign off that he's off and you're the only one on there now. That's up to your lender first, but after that the form depends on your state.

no,,you cant do it on line,,they have to see the signature in person on this ,in order for it to be legal,that's the way the law is on that,,good luck hope this help,s.

you will have to check with your state's division of motor vehicles and will probably need his signature to proceed with it
