As elepanthrope said "The journey is half the fun." In other words, "Life's a journey, not a destination!"
How sad that people are just maneuvering through this life waiting for the unknown, when God gave us so many gifts to enjoy and so many obligations to others.
"Life" depends on how one sees it. One person enters a doctor's office and notices the gloomy expressions on others' faces. Another enters and sees a beautiful sunny room. Another enters and notices confusion in the office. They're all in the same room, but each has his own individual feeling -- one is in a gloomy room, the next in a sunny room, and the 3rd is in the midst of confusion. Why not look for the best in life and do everything we can to make this life better for everyone around us?
Just as the Christians say, "what if you're wrong about the afterlife????"

very simply put..You are wrong. We are here for the purpose of choosing where we will spend eternity. That is the sole purpose of this life. We choose to serve God or not and live out that decision here on earth and then continue living that decision for all of eternity. So the afterlife is everything, and this life is really just the decision time..

If the next life isn't important, so we live for this one only, does that mean that we souldn't worry about future consequences of our actions today because next week isn't really that important?
Reincarnation may not be a proved fact yet, but there is gathering evidence by reputable psychologists, psychiatrists and other researchers that have some validity. Before you discount a future life, look at the evidence.

Its the fear of the unknown-we are put at ease by the fact that true justice, which does'nt exist in this world, will be done in the afterlife. The good will be rewarded, the evil will be punished, whatever your definition of that is. There is nothing wrong with this at all.

well, it's wishful thinking and sometimes wishes come true.
some people live miserable lives and imagining an eternal life of bliss makes getting through this one easier to endure.
or
some folks love life so much, are so greedy for time to exist that only eternity will do.
or
some folks are so frightened of the concept of not existing, oblivion is unthinkable so they live in terror if they don't believe in an after life.
as for me i'm okay with either/or. i'd be pleased to discover myself in my fondest dream after my body is defunct but i also don't care much if i exist or not. i mean ... if i'm not there to be disappointed what would be the problem?

The afterlife is most important because, depending on whether or not you belong to Christ (confessing your sins to God and turning to Christ for salvation of your soul), you will either wind up in heaven or hell - no in-betweens. There IS a life after this. The proof is in God's word. If you don't believe in God and what He says in His Word, then you're lost, but I hope you will turn to Christ. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
Happy New Year!

if nothing lives forever, where did everything come from?
if everything has an end, then it had to have a beginning
you are correct when you say stars etc. have an end
God has no beginning and no end
He was and is and is to come
nothing else can make that claim
in the beginning God made the heavens and the earth
period

The journey is half the fun.
I don't care about the afterlife. If I'm out of existence, oh well. Nothing I can really do about it. If I'm reincarnated, I get to do it all over again. If I go to hell...Satan needs a helping hand anyways...
I do not fear death, I simply fear dying
