Tell your mum how you feel and ask her to take you to the doctor for treatment. Depression is not fun and needs to be taken seriously. I have suffered from anxiety and depression before. I am now taking some medicine that has been very effective for me.

I didn't tell my mom for 2 years. I think she kind of knew anyway because of the symptoms. I just got so fed up with my behavior, the crying, eating problems, sleeping problems, constantly taking pain killers, I was tired. So, I just asked her if she could take me to a counselor, or if she knew where the phone book was so that I could call one. She said some lame remark, I was upset and did nothing about it. When I got my own place in September the counselor at college approached me, I pushed her away at first. Thinking, I don't need help. I've managed all these years. I went anyway, and now I'm getting lots of help, without my moms help.
Best of luck, if you're in school there's usually a school counselor to go to. Try that. :)

You didn't mention your age, or describe your relationship with your mom. You might begin by suggesting that your mom make an appointment with your doctor for you. Tell her openly and honestly that you have been feeling depressed, and that you would like to talk to a professional about it to help you sort out whether you are in fact depressed or dealing with difficult issues that can make you feel blue. There are things you can try to help yourself with depression: eating well and getting even only 10 minutes a day of exercise (one short, brisk walk) can really help. Talk to a friend who cares or keep a journal in which you describe your feelings. Pray if that is comforting for you; even just a short prayer to ask God to be with you in this time of darkness in your life. Good luck, and God bless!

Tell her before it gets worse, and realize that your not the only one. For some reason when I was depressed it always helped me to think that there's people that care and the people that care are the ones that have gone through the same thing as you. So just get help as soon as you can.

I had the same problem..I just went to her and told her my issues. At first she didnt take me serious..But after afew minutes of talking to her she realized I was serious. If you feel like there are things that make no sense and you need to talk to someone, which is how I was. Then you really should talk to your mom and have a heart to heart talk about going to see a doctor.

Have you been diagnosted by a doctor? If not, get an accurate diagnosis from your primary care doctor. If you have been diagnosted with depression, see about inviting your mom to your next doctors appointment and the three of you (doctor, you, your mom) discuss your illness.
