Christians, do you get hurt when atheists say that ALL of you are judgemental, unintelligent, unreasonable, hypocrtical or intolerant?
Atheists, when Christians tell you that you are going to hell or assume you don't have a conscience or for other things?
People of Minority Religions, when people say you are strange or weird or look down on you because your faith is not common?
All people in general, when people bash eachother, insult each other, generalize about how all people of this faith or that faith are, and say things that are deliberately insulting.
Let's stop.

I believe in witnessing and in freedom of speech too, but I think it can be done more lovingly then it has been done here.

Maybe people ought to me more mindful of the Ethics of Reciprocity.

Before you get out your dictionaries, it's the Golden Rule: "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You."

Besides, if you want to convert people, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

And just because that quote is from the bible does not make it purely a Christian concept.

I am a Christian of non denomination. It only bothers me that some have made it appear that Christians are these things or that those saying these things about Christians don't really know.

Personally, I don't care if people think I am weird or crazy. I try very hard not to be insulting to others who do not share my belief and if I have appeared that way, I usually go back to apologies and explain with better wording.

It'll never stop though. All the fights and cheap stabs at one another. There is to much evil in the world working against it right now.

Not me, but I know women who would be bothered by it. I manage a company and have 33 employees, male & female. It's a little sad that there are a few women who are offended when that type of message comes from a MAN, but they don't react at all when it comes from a woman. Granted, one of the females lodged a complaint over a guy who would come in every morning & say, "Good morning, girls!". Sheesh! She wasn't joking, either. She was seriously offended by it. The poor man was despondent over it. Such stupidity on her part! Personally, I like having doors opened for me, by either sex, and I do the same if I arrive first. I can fire people when warranted. I like it that I have balls. And can cry, too. This is probably a good, healthy thing. So, in answer to your question: some women would be offended by being called 'guys'. As a 'feminist' this saddens me. I say, "Let's celebrate the differences". I'm not a man, but as my mother used to say, the only thing a man can beat me at is a one-handed contest at pissing up a rope! Just tread carefully. There's this little thing called the Charter of Rights & Freedoms (I'm Canadian) it could GETCHA, regardless of your best intentions.

Yes, it does bother me to be told I am going to hell.

It bothers me that people still believe in that in this day and age.

It bothers me that people set themselves up to judge my fate when only the god they claim they believe in will decide it, according to their doctrine.

It bothered me greatly when my best friend told me my children were going to burn in hell because their father and I chose not to have them baptized. I want my children to make their own decisions. Their hearts are theirs to give to god if they so choose. It is not for me to decide for them.

And I must say that I do not classify *all* Christians as "judgemental, unintelligent, unreasonable, hypocrtical or intolerant". I've met a *few* that fit that bill, but the vast majority that I have met have been quite respectful. (Mav and Don deserve special mention.)

I guess I don't qualify as any specific religion, though I do believe in God and Jesus Christ. When people insult beliefs that are close to mine, it really doesn't bother me. I feel confident in what I believe and know from personal experience, and others' comments don't shake that.

Edit to add: I agree, it would be a less depressing place if the meanness could stop.

I think it is funny when they say I'm going to hell. I come here for the debate. It's fun. It would be quite the boring place if we all just sat around singing.

The problem is having a category like religion and spirituality.

The are opposites, like oil and water.

They should never be lumped together like this.

Love and blessings Don

Ok, I don't know why you are here, but I am here to witness, and atheists, in a sense, are too. Freedom of speech.

I wonder if it would be any better if they had a category that was specifically Christian rather that just religion and spirituality? I'd really like to have a forum like that.

What a beautiful world this would be if everyone could just accept everyone else's religious beliefs without judgement.

After all, none of us are God and shouldn't be judging anyone....
