Do you mean that your friend has ignored the lumps since he was 12 years old and that now he is afraid that puberty has been delayed because he might have cancer?

There are way too many possibilities here to give any type of real answer. Your friend needs to tell his parents that he wants to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Only a doctor can examine him and give a diagnosis. It may not be anything connected to cancer at all, but it may have something to do with hormones. He will not know until he's checked. My son, at 17, was orignally diagnosed with hypothyrodism and currently takes a medication to control it. He also has abdominal cancer. The two conditions may or may not be connected. We don't know.

Tell your friend to get checked as soon as possible as it is certainly possible for cancer to be 'latent' . . we heavily suspect that my son had a pre-cancer for awhile and than a sudden growth spurt during puberty triggered the sarcoma (meaning that cancer can be triggered by something as common as the hormones that cause puberty). That's just speculation on our part, as no one really knows what causes one person to have cancer while it spares another person.

Never ignore any kind of lump. He should see a Urologist immediately. My 17 year old son had testicular cancer when he was 17 and it was stage 3, meaning it spread all the way to his lungs. He did survive after lots of chemo, 2 stem cell transplants and surgery. Unfortunately, men don't get the education about TC like woman do with breast cancer. It may be nothing at all, but getting checked would spare him a lot of anxiety and maybe even his life!

If he hasn't seen a Dr yet, he should get his butt in there asap. I doubt it is testicular cancer but only a Dr can tell you that. My son had an infection in his testical at 14 . cleared up with antibiotics.the epididimus can feel lumpy. Those are the coiled tubules on the back side of the testicle. BTW there is no reason for men to die of testicular cancer these days , It is highly treatable.

If your mate has testicular cancer, it could spread to other parts of the body, which may ultimately kill him. He needs to go to the doctor and get checked out.

Sounds like some kind of infection of hair follicles/cysts. If troublesome/big, a minor surgery can fix that
