God is the Great; "I am". He the God of many names. The YHWH transliteration from the original Hebrew may be His name of choice, but, the real pronunciation of this name was forgotten. Mainly because the Jews felt it too Holy to speak. Many feel it is Yahweh. Then when the Bible was translated into the Latin Vulgate the Y took on the J and we got the name; Jehovah, basic Etymology/Semantics. But, God knows and searches the Heart. He knows His children and they know Him, regardless of the name used.

The name of Gos is YHVH. Pronounced Yahweh, Yahuveh or Yehovah depending on which period of history you are talking about. All of the other "names" for God are not his true name. He said to call him "I am" because the Pharaoh was an unbeliever and therefor was unworthy to speak the name of god. Elohim is the plural of the Hebrew word for "God." It is not a name, but a job description. You may remember Jesus Crying out on the cross, "Eli, Eli, Lama Sabach thani." Also in the creation story the word "God," is the Hebrew word "Elohim."

God told Moses when he asked that question - "I Am that I Am". God has many names, one is also Yahweh. Jehovah, almighty. That is God the Father. God the son, Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah, Lord, to name a few. Jesus also called himself "I Am" God the Holy Spirit - counselor, comforter

I am that I am. In Hebrew, Ehyeh asher ehyeh.
Some weird modern people attempt to convert the Tetragrammaton (YHWH) which is simply an anagram, into a pronouncable word usually Yahweh or Jehovah.
In Hebrew, He is typically referred to as either Elohim, equivalent of our general term "God" or Adonai, equivalent to "LORD" or "Lord".
Elohim is the best Hebrew equivalent for the English term.

Dear pebwan, the BIble gives HIm severla names, jehova, Alpha and Omega (meaning beggingin and the end) and Everlasting Father. None the less, he is God the creator and he has done something amazing for you and I. Sin is transgression of the Ten Commandments, every time we lie and steal and look with lust and blaspheme Gods name we anger him, the BIble says were enemies of God through our wicked works. God demans Holiness and will punish the unrighteous. hel is that place of Punishment and its eternal. The good news is God himself came down to us in the flesh (jesus Christ) and he suffered and died taking the penalty and the punishment for your sin, you broke the law and Jesus graciously paid your fine. if you will repent (turn from sin) and trust in jesus, you will pass from death to life, and have hope of eternity with HIm
God Bless
