it depends on:
1)where you live
2)i think if the sex offender has to register but has no jail time he can live anywhere. like if he had to register in MD but had no jail time his registering thing wouldn't come up in Washington.

Depends on where you live. Here, the may not live, work, or enter purposely, an area within 1000 feet of a playground, daycare, school, etc. 1000 feet isn't as far as you would think. It's roughly a little less than a 1/4 mile.
By purposely, they mean if a registered offender is driving through a town they are not familiar with, and the main road goes right by a school, they cannot be charged with anything.

I'm sorry I can't answer with any real idea of distance, but there's a lot of them that don't really care to follow directions in the first place. Just because they can't be in a certain mile radious of schools or day cares doesn't mean they won't anyhow. They are criminals who have no respect for the law to begin with or they wouldn't have done what they did to be convicted.
Personally, I feel that they should all have special tatoos to warn everyone. (Same with child abusers) .
I have two different websites I check on a regular basis but they don't get updated very often. From those, I can be informed of what sort of abuse they've been charged with and to what degree. I have shown the pictures of these people to my older children so they know who to run from and also to give them a sense of reality. There really are bad guys in a little town of only 4,000. I show my children where they live as well. It might seem extreme to some, but I want my kids to grow up aware of real dangers. To me it's no different then telling them to stay out of the street.
Just do a search on Yahoo under national sex offender registry and see what you come up with. I was shocked the first time I looked and realised that the guy I poured coffee for every afternoon at the local diner is a convicted child molester and lived about 3 blocks from my house!! My kids play outside!!!!
You can never EVER be too carefull when it comes to your kids folks.
God bless and good luck finding your answers.

It depends. Some states may have mandatory distances required to be ordered by the Court at sentencing. Others may not.
In any case, law enforcement and probation officers enforcing the Court ordered stay-away will have a copy of the orders in hand, and will have to go specifically by the orders made in the individual case.
If you suspect someone is a sex offender and is closer than you're comfortable with to a school, contact the local probation department or police department and advise them of your concerns.
Sex Offenders have to register with law enforcement. If he's not allowed to live there and he IS living there, then he's already in violation of probation/parole.
Always better safe than sorry.

Depends of the state statues on what governs how close a sex offender can live next to a school or day care.
But I believe that any sex offender should be locked up forever and there will be no need to know how close they can live next to schools or day cares.

As far as I know, as long as they are current in the city's registry they can live wherever. Kind of hard to NOT be within 1000 feet of a school or daycare in most towns....since a daycare can be in someone's house as well as a "Kindercare" or what have you...

It is my opinion that all sex offenders be sent to Iraq and used as TARGETS and bring our TROOPS HOME.

Each state will vary, but if it was up to me, at least 10 miles.
