i'd have to go with the first persons answer. sheler puppies are very cute, they dont look like any other puppy and live longer, healthier lives because most of them are mixed breeds. Plus, dont forget that for every puppy or dog that is adopted, that makes room for a new puppy or dog to have a place in the shelter so that they dont get hurt or starve or something bad like that out on the street. They are all just animals that deserve a second chance.

It doesn't exist. A "cheap" puppy is going to be a puppy mill and you'll get an abused dog instead of a puppy. TAANSTAAFL: There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

The Humane Society Animal Shelter. These dogs have been:
Temperament tested
Up to date on shots and vaccinations
Spayed/neutered
Microchipped
Licensed
You will be amazed at how many puppies, even purebred, are in shelters and rescues.

Be a hero, save a life, adopt a shelter dog.

Definitely try local shelters first. Also try Petfinder.com. Most pet stores get there puppies from puppy mills, no matter what they say.

Don't know what a puppy mill is? Go here and read some of the stories. It's AWFUL!

Depending on what kind of puppy you want the local animal shelter is an option. But I know I raise purebred Cocker Spaniels and we sell them for 75 dollars each. They are not registered but do have their first shots and have been wormed and raised around children and other pets so they are accustomed to other things besides the parents. They usually have begun to be potty trained before we sell them too.

Ask around at work and the neighborhood to see if anyone's dog has had puppies. Sometimes vets have them for adoption (mine does). An animal shelter animal will cost a little, but will have its shots up to date and be fixed, too.

If you can wait eight weeks, I have a basset hound blue heeler mix that I don't know who the father is. She just had her puppies and we would legally sell them for zero cash!! I'm sorry, there are only five.

Check your local pound and human society. Most of the time its a small fee to adopt and their is usually a large selection of animals that need homes.
