if it is your second cousin then their children would be your third cousins

It makes them your second cousin, but my cousins kids all call me Auntie because it seems more appropriate then anything else, my kids call my cousins Auntie or uncle. When we have all our parties there is not such think as second cousins. I love it that way.

it is counted by the common ancestor. If you and your cousins, are 1st cousins, meaning that you share the same grandparents, then their children would be your first cousin-once removed.
Your children would be the same to them.
Your children, and their children on the other hand, would be second cousins.
